Summoning Folcalor

occult tarot

“Focalor (also Forcalor, Furcalor) is a powerful Great Duke of Hell, commanding three or thirty legions of spirits. Focalor is mentioned in The Lesser Key of Solomon as the forty-first of the 72 goetic demons. According to the grimoire: Focalor appears in the form of a man with a griffin’s wings, kills men, drowns them, and overthrows warships; but if commanded by the conjurer he will not harm any man or thing. Focalor has power over wind and sea, and had hoped to return to heaven after one thousand years, but he was deceived in his hope. One of the three archdemons, Lucifuge Rofocale has his second name as an anagram of Focalor, implying an intellectual relationship.”

Folcalor is a demon who is a Great Duke in hell with dominion over three to thirty legions of demons. He is the 41st of the 72 demons mentioned within the Ars Goetia. Folcalor also has control over the wind and sea. He is said to kill men, drown them, and overturn warships although he is harmless when conjured up appropriately.

Folcalor is a murderous spirit that can also offer protection to the conjuror in addition to helping with future predictions. Folcalor can impart the power of seduction as well as making the conjuror persuasive in speech. Additionally, he is an expert in dream magic and can be summoned to cause unfavorable circumstances to resolve themselves.

It is worth noting that the demon’s office is to take the lives of men. As a result, he can be conjured to harm or even kill targets although using the demon for harmful purposes is discouraged. This is largely because the potency of this demon always causes undesirable outcomes with Folcalor opting to teach the conjuror a lesson instead.

One of the three archdemons – Lucifuge Rofocale – is thought to have an intellectual relationship with Folcalor as his second name is an anagram of Folcalor. Folcalor is also associated with Leviathan as they share the element of water since Folcalor hails from the sea as well. He is also able to control various beasts of the sea. He is remarkably strong and his powers over the elements of wind and water cause him to start storms over the seas.

History

As a demon, Folcalor had hoped to return to heaven and be restored his previous angelic status after a thousand years although this did not come to fruition as stated within the Luciferian Goetia by Michael Ford. Before his descent into demon status, Folcalor was a Luciferic angel. The demon belonged to the order of thrones prior to his fall hence his affinity to heaven.

His hopes of returning to the Seventh Throne were unsuccessful as he is thought to have been deceived. It is plausible that this demon still seeks to restore his place within the order of the Seventh Throne as stated within the Ars Goetia.

Description

Rank: Great Duke of Hell

Element: Water / Air

Planet: Venus

Metal: Copper

Incense: Sandalwood

Zodiac: Aquarius / Taurus

Color: Green

Plant: Wild Rose

Tarot: Six of Pentacles / Disks

Appearance

This demon appears in the form of a human male with the wings of a griffin. He has a remarkably strong build and his facial appearance is that of a man in anguish. He also has green skin which is somewhat scaly and his hair resembles seaweed. He is said to reek of death and the sea.

Whenever Folcalor manifests, he is always weeping and is said to have never uttered coherent statements. His countenance does little to comfort the conjuror as his manifestations go to show his lack of love for mankind. Each sob causes his wings to shudder violently and this can be unnerving.

When he is summoned, he first appears as a solitary tear. This is then followed by his weeping eyes and his body cloaked underneath his massive griffin wings that grow out of his back. The demon himself does not speak as he is constantly weeping although the cause of his sorrow remains a mystery.

Attributes of Folcalor

  • This demon has a murderous predisposition and it is thought that dreaming about him or his sigil is a sign that someone wishes ill will upon the conjuror.
  • Folcalor is a sea demon who has power over the sea and can cause tempests or storms that subsequently overturn ships and cause people to drown.
  • This demon is mostly evoked so as to resolve unsuitable circumstances in a fast manner so as to restore order on the part of the conjuror although he can be summoned for more malevolent reasons such as assassinations.
  • As a Luciferic demon, Folcalor also has power over the element of air as evidenced by his dominion over the weather.
  • When the demon mainfests, the eyes of conjurors are bound to water involuntarily although the cause of this is unknown.

Summoning Folcalor

Folcalor is also referred to as the “Night Demon” due to his nocturnal nature. Consequently, all acts of summoning this demon must be done under the cover of night. Among the reasons he can be summoned are to strike down targets with lightning, offer assistance in resolving issues quickly, help in predictions of the future, or to cause a person to be suddenly struck with grief in the presence of the conjuror. His dominion over water also means that he can impart the ability to breathe underwater to the conjuror if they so wish.

Items Required:

  • The demon’s seal must be conspicuous and drawn with a liquid medium in line with the demon’s element.
  • The conjuror must protect themselves by mentally envisioning a protection circle and entering it to prevent the demon from causing harm since he is casually violent.
  • The sandalwood incense
  • A green candle

Ritual Time: At night on May 1st to May 10th or October 13th to October 17th

Precautions:

  • As with other demons, Folcalor must be treated with respect and all the necessary steps taken.
  • This demon has no love for mankind and will casually harm anyone to satisfy his murderous tendencies – the conjuror must forbid him upon invocation lest he grows uncontrollable.

Steps:

  • It is necessary to engage in meditation and breathing exercises prior to summoning such a depressing demon.
  • The demon’s sigil should be prominently displayed before the conjuror can attempt to contact the demon.
  • During the offering of incense, it is necessary to chant the demon’s enn respectfully whilst mentally thinking about one’s wishes.
  • The demon manifests among the smoke and flames as a single tear, followed by weeping eyes, and the demon’s full body.
  • Since he does not speak, one must say their wishes to the demon after instructing it not to harm anyone.
  • He is then dismissed respectfully as he had been summoned.
