Umū dabrūtu

MAX USE FOR YOUR FEATURE IMAGE

Umū dabrūtu is a group of ancient Mesopotamian mythical creatures created by the mother goddess, Tiamat. They were among the eleven monsters sent to fight against the younger gods after Absu was killed. The name of this demon was gotten from the inscription u-mi da-ab-ru-ti which means “violent storms”.

According to the Enuma Elish, Umū dabrūtu and his companions “bore cruel weapons without fear of the fight.” However, after Tiamat was defeated, Marduk was able to break all their weapons and bound them to his feet. He transformed them into guardians of doorways, temples, palaces, and homes.

The exact form of this monster was not stated in tablets or art, however, Wiggerman describes them as “weather beasts”. Other legends suggest that they possess lion-like features. Ugallu and Umū dabrūtu are often associated with hurricanes, storms, tornados, earthquakes, floods, raging winds, and natural disasters. They use thunder and lightning as weapons.

Appearances:

In works of magic, Umū dabrūtu appears as a swirling vortex of Chaos with a burning eye in the center. This eye is either yellow or fiery like the eyes of a wild beast. Sometimes, he appears in the form of a violent, destructive vortex of energy that is absorbed through the third eye of the practitioner.

WORKING WITH UMŪ DABRŪTU

The energy of this demon is vast and without boundaries. Like I stated earlier, he hardly appears in any anthropomorphic form thus communicating with him on the ordinary level might seem impossible. However, on rare occasions, when instructed by the practitioner, he might emerge from the cloud of black smoke in the form of an old skinny man, with windy hair and fiery eyes. He fills the Temple with scorching heat and flames. He can be evoked using a mirror or fire medium. His manifestations are powerful.

When invoked, he might appear as a living fire that enters into the practitioner to transform his astral form into a fire elemental or a fiery phoenix with flaming wings. He inspires dreams of flying and soaring very high. When used in malefic sorcery, this demon can cause havoc in the life of the target. For instance, Umū dabrūtu uses bolts of liquid fire to attack and destroy.

HOW TO INVOKE THE SPIRIT OF UMŪ DABRŪTU

Items Needed:

  • The sigil of Umū dabrūtu
  • The practitioner’s blood
  • Ritual blade
  • Image of the Key of the Night
  • Parchment

Procedures:

  • Draw the demon’s sigil on the parchment with few drops of your blood or use the blood to trace the lines of the glyph.
  • You may also want to paint this sigil on your forehead to serve as a focal point for the spirit’s energy.
  • Use the blooded ritual blade to trace the Key of the Night in front of you, above the altar.
  • Envisage it shining with radiant flames.
  • Visualize that the Temple is filled with these flames. This will charge the Temple with the essence of the spirit.
  • Stare at the sigil for some minutes while chanting the demon’s name.
  • Visualize how the glyph becomes activated and glow with liquid fire.
  • At this point, visualize that the spirit’s fiery energy is being drawn into your consciousness.
  • When the Temple is fully charged, and you are ready to begin the invocation, speak the following words.

By the Blood of the Dragon which is my own Essence,

And by the Key of the Night,

I call you, Umū dabrūtu!

Fearsome Demon of Blazing Chaos!

Furious Tempests and Raging Storms!

Come through the Gateway of Fire,

Arise from Primordial Void,

with flames and lightning,

Scourging the earth and devouring the stars!

I offer myself to be consumed in your burning ecstasy,

Enter my flesh and transform me from within,

In the rites of your fearsome alchemy!

Strike the world with primal terror!

And rise in the agony of tortured souls!

Hear my call and come to me!

Grant me the power to crush mankind and human creations!

Emblaze my soul with living fire,

and fortify me with your furious essence!

Burn my enemies with your flaming lashes,

And leave them screaming with millions of tortured voices!

Enter this Temple of Flesh,

Lift my Soul in delirious flight,

Over the ruins of the world,

And enflame my dreams with Chaos and Fury!

I invoke you in the name of the Dragon!

In Nomine Draconis!

Ho Drakon Ho Megas!

Going Further:

Burn the parchment with the sigil and as the smoke arises, it shall carry your wishes to be united with the spirit’s essence to the planes. Visualize how the gates of your soul open up to be filled with the essence of this spirit.

Visualize how the spirit essence enters your body through the third eye, burning the shape of the sigil on your forehead. While inside of you, it expands your consciousness. This would take you into a trance of possession. At this point, let your consciousness merge with the essence of this demon through visual meditation or sexual ecstasy. Open your mind to the boundless power of the demon.

At this point, let the visions flow freely and continue to explore the powers of this demon which are now yours to command. Let your focus be on your goal. If your goal is to harm your target, do the following:

  • Visualize a black vortex swirling around your target.
  • Enflame yourself with rage and strike the target through the solar plexus.

This highly destructive energy will spread over the whole body, and cause damage to the aura and spiritual centers of the victim. This will expose him to energies of chaos and entropy. In the physical world, the victim will experience chaos, misery, sickness, and all sorts of failures and misfortunes, flowing continuously with the force of a hurricane and it cannot be stopped.

A strike from this demon can be very devastating and its effects can be experienced by family, and friends of the victim. For that reason, working with this force for a singular target is highly discouraged.

When you wish, you can end the working and return to your mundane consciousness. Finally, thank the spirit and close the ritual.

Warning:

Rituals open the gateways of the soul and those doors can never be closed again. For that reason, I strongly advise that casual experimentation with these rituals should be avoided. Due to the complex nature of this ritual, I would suggest that you have some experience before practicing this ritual. Also, whether you are experienced or not, kindly tread with caution because these are not designed for dabblers. They are designed for serious pathworking.
