Tea with Prince Stolas

As a practicing grey hedge witch, I have had a lot of powerful experiences with the spirit realm. From invoking deities to speaking with the Beloved Dead to traveling between realms; the magick of this path never ceases.

Looking back on my 2019 year through the lens of witchery, I decided that the experience that was the most influential for me personally was when I summoned the goetic daemon Prince Stolas during a psychic tea party.

This was my first time working with a goetic daemon, and I was both excited and a bit nervous. My approach is very non traditional as I am opposed to pre-written rituals and scripted prayers. Furthermore, this ritual event was not a solitary one; I had three other humans in attendance! All of them were lightworkers that were just as excited to work with Stolas as I was.

Our intent for the ritual was to learn the art and craft of tasseomancy, or tea leaf reading, together as a sort of spiritual study group. After much research into various herbal and divinatory deities, I felt compelled to choose Prince Stolas as our guest of honor. The reasons for the decision were mainly due to his associations as a great teacher of herbal knowledge, as well as his affiliations with wisdom and divination (mainly in the forms of astronomy and gemstones). In short, Stolas is renown for his “teaching of herbal (divination)”, which is precisely what we were doing.

The evening began with consecrating and charging the sacred tea ingredients, each one being blessed and consecrated individually. The herbal tea mixture used was specially blended for this event. We added the intention of “knowledge, learning and clarity” to our ingredients. Then the water was boiled with the element of fire, and the enchanted loose-leaf herb mixture added (as element of earth).

Next, I said a prayer to the Divine Cosmos and walked us through a guided meditation. I then cast a magick circle with my wand and summoned Prince Stolas to our gathering. He arrived slowly as I explained our intention and why he was called. The guests were told to speak aloud any sensations or impressions they received during the ritual as these came from Stolas. A few of us felt an energy of confusion come from him.

We served him cake, tea and a special offering of whiskey. We began to discuss divination methods, including tarot cards, as we each sipped our magickal tea and ate cake. Soon, a few people felt some impressions from Prince Stolas.

When our tea cups were almost empty, I told Stolas that we wanted to learn tea leaf reading and invited him to give any of us tips or information as we interpreted each other’s cups. Every single one of us in attendance received a direct message from Stolas regarding our divination!

Eventually, it was time to end the ritual and so I asked if Stolas had anything else to say to us before we released him. We felt a strong, warm fuzzy energy swiftly wash through us, as if he was thanking us! One of the participants saw a flame-like flash physically appear over the altar table.

I then thanked Stolas and bid him farewell, before taking down the circle. We had a brief discussion about the event and then I grounded myself. Afterwards we buried Stolas’ offerings of cake, tea and whiskey in the earth.

We will definitely be working with him again in the future! This event made me feel more confident in my spirit summoning skills, and was so positive that I purchased a copy of the Legemeton which contains multiple goetias. Although I am relatively new to working with daemons intentionally, I will definitely be doing this a lot more!

Perhaps the best part of this experience was that there was no fear present at all. We were able to grow, learn and enjoy an enlightening ritual event that transcended the divisive line of “black and white” magick, and make friends with a powerful daemonic ally while doing it!
