How to Handle One Problem Person Without Ruining an Open Dynamic

We are talking about….

  • A successful obsession spell
  • Someone else taking up too much of my lovers time
  • Remove Third Party or Break Up Spell?

Client’s Situation

(Fake names…of course!)

Kim and John had been friends for a while, and Kim wants more than just friendship. While they have an alternative lifestyle group, Kim would like more of a dating relationship to be happening with John. In order to get his attention, she ordered a lust and obsession spell in March 2026.

In May 2026, Kim writes to share with us that things are going exactly how she desires; however, she realizes that one of these people in his circle is occupying far too much of his time. If the other girl did not stay over his house so much and occupy so much of his time. She and John would have more time to get to know each other and become even closer.

Kim wants to know what can help her achieve this next goal.

When You’ve Already Got Their Attention, But One Person Keeps Getting Too Close

Sometimes a spell works exactly as you hoped. The person becomes strongly drawn to you, they reach out consistently, and you begin spending real time together. You can feel the chemistry building, and there’s clear potential for something deeper. In many cases, the spell has done its job & your target is now very into you.

However, even when things are moving in the right direction, complications can still appear. This is especially common in open or non-monogamous dynamics. While you may both be comfortable with multiple partners, there is often one specific person who continues to take up a significant amount of time and space. This person may have been around for years, stays over frequently, and maintains a level of closeness that starts to feel like it’s blocking the relationship from progressing emotionally.

Even when your target describes the connection as casual, it can become clear that this one individual is creating an imbalance. They may resist any attempts to include you, while being open to others. Over time, this can prevent the deeper emotional connection and quality time that both people seem to want.

This post may be relevant if:

  • You’ve used spellwork to draw someone in, and it has been successful. They are now very into you and making consistent time for you.
  • You’re both open to a non-monogamous or swinging lifestyle, but there is one specific person who continues to stay very close and involved.
  • This one person has been around for a long time, and you can feel they are taking up more space than feels balanced or comfortable.
  • You want to reduce how close this particular person is, without trying to stop your target from seeing other people entirely.

If this sounds like your situation, keep reading.

Best Spell for This Situation: Targeted Third Party Removal

In cases like this, the most appropriate working is a Targeted Third Party Removal, also known as Interference Removal or Obstacle Removal. This type of spell focuses specifically on one individual rather than attempting to remove every outside connection.

A Targeted Third Party Removal is usually the cleanest and most effective approach in this situation for several reasons:

  • The foundation with the main person is already there. They are contacting you and making time to see you, which means the spellwork has already created movement.
  • The main blockage is one specific person who is consistently taking up time and space. Removing their influence can create room for the connection to grow without disrupting the rest of the dynamic.
  • You are not against your target seeing other people in general. You are simply looking to reduce or remove the impact of this one particular person so the relationship can progress.
  • A full break-up spell can sometimes be too heavy in situations like this. It may create unnecessary resistance or affect areas of the connection that you are comfortable with. A targeted removal is more precise and focused on the actual problem.

Recommended Spell Combination

I suggest doing one main working with these two layers:

  1. Primary Spell: Targeted Third Party Removal
    • Focused specifically on this woman (not all his other partners).
    • Goal: Reduce the time he spends with her, weaken her hold/influence over him, and create natural distance.
    • This can include cord cutting between him and her.
  2. Secondary Layer (Optional but Recommended):
    • Add a light Domination / Influence component on the man so he naturally prioritizes Kim more and feels less drawn to keep this particular woman so close.
    • This helps the removal stick and encourages the relationship to progress.

Spell Options

Spell Type Strength Best For Recommendation Notes
Targeted Third Party Removal Strong Removing one specific person’s influence Best choice Most precise for this situation

Cord Cutting (him + her)

…also cord cutting if you want to move one from the heartbreak

Medium Severing energetic ties Good add-on Can be combined with removal
Domination / Influence Strong Making him pull away from her & toward Kim Recommended Helps the removal work faster
Sweetening (as a spell or jar/container magick – and EASY for you to do too) Medium Strengthening bond with Kim Optional Can be added later, after the spells
Full Break-Up Very Strong Completely ending their connection Too heavy Not necessary here

Why People Often Reach for a Full Break-Up Spell

When one person continues to interfere or take up too much space, many people’s first instinct is to go straight for a full break-up spell. The thinking is usually simple: remove the third party completely, and the problem disappears.

While a break-up spell can be powerful, it is often too heavy for this kind of situation. In many cases, the person isn’t trying to force their target into monogamy. They are simply uncomfortable with how close this one specific individual remains. Using a full break-up spell in an otherwise open dynamic can sometimes create unnecessary resistance or energetic backlash.

Why Not a Banishing Spell?

A Banishing Spell is another strong option, and in many ways, it would probably achieve what Kim actually wants. While both a Banishing and a Targeted Third Party Removal can be used to deal with someone who is interfering, they are approached differently.

A Banishing Spell is often more suitable when the goal is to completely remove someone from your life or significantly push them away. This type of spell works well in situations where you no longer want any contact or connection with a particular person. There’s generally a personal reason why, such as they have hurt you emotionally or physically in some way.

It is commonly used when someone is being toxic, harassing, draining, or causing ongoing harm. A banishing can also be effective when you want to cut ties with a person who refuses to respect your boundaries or continues to interfere in your life despite your wishes. Because banishing work tends to be more direct and forceful, it is often chosen when the desired outcome is a full removal rather than simply reducing someone’s influence.

In contrast, a Targeted Third Party Removal is generally better when you want to deal with one specific person’s presence or closeness without necessarily cutting them out of the picture entirely. A banishing, however, is more aligned with situations where you want that person gone or kept at a strong distance.

A banishing is typically done through traditional witchcraft methods, whereas a targeted third party removal at Black Witch Coven is usually carried out by working with demonic spirits.

Both approaches have their place, and the choice often comes down to what method you’re more comfortable with and what kind of energy you want to bring into the working. Some people prefer the witchcraft-based approach of a banishing, while others feel more aligned with demonic work for this type of situation.

Personally, I like both methods, and I have seen hundreds of cases where both methods have worked perfectly fine. perhaps the banishing

It’s also worth noting that not all removal or banishing work needs to involve heavy spiritual methods. At Black Witch Coven, we also offer Candle Magic, which is often a simple and accessible way for people to work on these kinds of situations themselves. Candle spells can be performed using seven-day candles, pillar candles, or taper candles, depending on what you have available and how you prefer to work.

If you’re interested in doing your own candle magic, we recommend checking out our Grimoire for spell suggestions and guidance.

Alternatively, investing in a good spell book can also provide plenty of ideas and techniques to get started.

Important Things to Consider

Before moving forward with this type of work, it’s worth taking some time to get clear on what you actually want (before you spend your TIME or $$$$$).

Ask yourself:

  • Are you comfortable with your target continuing to see other people, as long as this one individual steps back?
  • How much closeness with this person feels unacceptable to you?
  • Would any personal work around boundaries or emotional security help you receive a deeper connection once the interference is reduced?

It’s also important to have realistic expectations. A Targeted Third Party Removal can successfully reduce someone’s presence and influence, but results can vary depending on how long the connection has existed and how strong the bond is between them. In some cases, the person may not disappear completely, but their closeness and impact can be significantly reduced.

Final Thoughts

What I find really wonderful about situations like this is when a client takes such a clear and thoughtful approach. Kim didn’t rush in asking for a binding spell or trying to lock this person down exclusively. Instead, she focused on what was actually standing in the way of the connection she wanted to build. She already had his attention and could see the potential, but she recognised that one specific person was creating a blockage. Rather than trying to force something bigger than what was needed, she asked for exactly what would help, being a targeted way to reduce that one person’s closeness so the relationship could grow naturally.

I truly admire this kind of approach. It shows real clarity and emotional maturity. Too often, people come in wanting the biggest, strongest spell they can get, without stopping to consider whether that’s actually what’s required.

Kim, on the other hand, is being very intentional. She’s allowing the connection to unfold while addressing the real obstacle in front of her.

In my experience, this kind of focused and honest approach tends to lead to much better and more stable results in the long run.

I have a lot of respect for clients who work this way, and I genuinely believe it’s one of the reasons her magic is likely to continue working so well for her.

I could just talk forever……. but I need to end this post somewhere and go cast some spells.

What would YOU do?

I would love your opinion on what you would do for this situation. Us witches we have so many tricks up our sleeves, and so we’re not saying we have all the solutions, but we’d love to know what worked for you!

And yes, this is the beginning of my series, and I’ll be back with more of our suggestions based on client cases. toodles !

UPDATE:

I did share this article with “Kim” ….and she shared with me a little more info

“Just wanted to add she is his friend for 4 years already and also does some minor work for his business. Is the 3rd party removal spell still the best choice?”

So my recommendation would be different with the knowledge that the target has other connections to John other than just being another lover. this is a different strategy. Although technically you could go back and do what I suggested above, still you’d want to deal with severing their workplace connection.

This is why divination is always important before casting a spell and booking in a consultation, be it an email consultation, a tarot reading, or a psychic reading.

We know it’s really confusing when you’re new to magic about all of these little differences. Honestly, if you’re too overwhelmed with anything, just stick to the basics, such as a banishing ritual on the other woman 🙂 Or…if you’re on a budget, set a series of breakup candles.
