Modern Slavery Statement
Modern slavery includes slavery, forced and compulsory labor, and human trafficking, which can occur in developed and developing countries, affecting people from all backgrounds. We address this through our structure, supply chain policies, due diligence, risk assessment, training, and remediation efforts.
Black Witch Coven is a spiritual and occult services & education platform. We provide online content, consultations, spell-casting services, and ethically sourced herbs, oils, and ritual supplies globally. Our team consists of a small group of dedicated practitioners, with operations managed from 4 continents. The Ethical Sourcing team oversees modern slavery risks on a day-to-day basis, with oversight from the founder and core group.
Black Witch Coven is committed to ethical practices, responsible sourcing, and preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our organization and supply chain.
Our Supply Chains
While most of our oils are made by our own hands, the raw materials need to come from the supply chain.
We have mapped our primary suppliers for herbs, essential oils, and ritual materials, with ongoing efforts to trace Tier 2–3 suppliers for better visibility. This is a multi-year process to ensure traceability of raw ingredients.
Our supplies are sourced from regions including the US, Europe, India, Africa, and Australia & NZ, involving a network of small-scale harvesters, distillers, and ethical wholesalers.
We aim to provide authentic, high-quality products while fostering positive experiences for all involved, collaborating with partners to mitigate modern slavery risks.
Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking
Our ethical program is overseen by the founders to uphold social responsibility and human rights. Internal policies include: Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy, Ethical Sourcing Guidelines, Supplier Code of Conduct, and Whistleblowing Procedure.
In our supply chain, we require all partners to adhere to a Code of Conduct based on international labor standards (e.g., ILO conventions), including fair wages, no forced labor, and safe working conditions. Suppliers must comply contractually, with breaches leading to termination.
Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
Supplier Onboarding
Due diligence includes assessing country-specific risks using tools like the Global Slavery Index, reviewing supplier audits, and requiring ethical certifications (e.g., FairWild or organic).
Ongoing Monitoring
We conduct regular virtual audits and require annual self-assessments from high-risk suppliers. We ask questions from the wholesalers where we can’t literally connect with their suppliers.
Remediation
If indicators of modern slavery are identified, we investigate immediately. Severe cases result in immediate termination and reporting to authorities. We may collaborate with external organizations for victim assistance.
By fostering ethical partnerships, we uphold the integrity of our spiritual work while respecting human dignity.
The Earth-Centered Heart of the Left-Hand Path & Paganism
At its core, the Left-Hand Path and pagan traditions are profoundly Earth-centered.
We honor the living world as sacred, every plant, herb, root, resin, and stone we use in our magic is a gift from the living Earth, infused with its own spirit and intelligence.
This reverence demands responsibility: we are committed to protecting the ecosystems and beings that sustain our practice. Where mass harvesting threatens the survival of a plant or herb, or where over-collection risks pushing a species toward extinction, we actively seek alternatives, substitutions, cultivated sources, or entirely new correspondences, so our work never contributes to ecological harm.
We look after those who struggle to look after themselves, including the voiceless plants and the marginalized harvesters who gather them.
Ethical sourcing is not optional; it is a sacred duty. By supporting fair, sustainable, and transparent suppliers (and by choosing to grow or forage mindfully when possible), we align our magic with the natural cycles of balance, reciprocity, and respect.
In this way, our path remains sovereign, powerful, and in harmony with the very forces we invoke.
