Correspondences

“A table of correspondences is an esoteric table that lists purported magical, supernatural, occult, medicinal or similar advice in connection with the subjects being indexed. Tables of correspondences are provided as reference tools in casting spells and creating magic circles.”

Correspondences allow us to quickly look up what items contain energy that corresponds to the intent of our spell working. Because there are many different traditions and many different ways of looking at magical energy, you may find that correspondence tables vary.

For example:

• Dark magic is best performed from sunset to dawn of the next day. The optimal and most favorable time is between midnight and three a.m.(known as the witching hour).
• The waning moon as it sets is also the most effective time for conducting rituals of a dark nature, such as curses, and is the best time to lift spells cast by other mages.
• Perform purification and weight loss rituals under the waning moon. Positive rituals(for love, beauty, wealth, protection, etc.) are best conducted under the waxing moon.
• To be most effective, mages select the day and hour of the rite according to the well-known table of planetary days and hours.

Remember – Think outside of the box!

When it comes to planning for your spellcasting, think about what you’re trying to achieve and not just the overall category the spell falls into.

For example, if you are casting a spell to improve your business, you may think Jupiter is the correct timing for your business spell. But in fact, you may need to work within the hour of mercury to have the most auspicious experience when casting your business spell. Mercury focuses on communication, the mind and intellect. Business is a thinking man’s game. You have to be able to be quick and flexible and be able to get into discussions and arguments with people where you’re considering both sides of an argument in order for you to understand what you need to do to get the upper edge. So Mercury is an excellent option for anything to do with business, commerce, computers, documents, contracts, etc 

Common Correspondences for Consideration in spells and rituals include:

• Planetary Correspondences – The planetary correspondences could be considered the most important of correspondences. This is because all correspondences begin at the planetary level. All the other correspondences are based on planetary connections.
• Days of the week – Each of the days of the week corresponds to the energies of one of the classical planets and carries a magical energy all its own. Pagans, witches and magicians may choose to time their worship or spellcasting activities based on the energies of the various days of the week.
