Skyclad Morning Meditation

Morning is useful for energy work because you have not yet spent the day reacting to everyone else’s demands, moods, and noise. Before reaching for a spell, a phone, or a dozen competing thoughts, you can use a few minutes to bring your attention back into your own body.
This meditation is built around a simple sequence: breathe, draw energy inward, gather it at the solar plexus, expand it through the body, and then release or direct it toward a specific working.
The original exercise was demonstrated as a short morning practice in a natural setting in Australia’s Hunter Valley. {“fallbackMarkdown”:”(Black Witch Coven)”,”reference”:{“matched_text”:””,”prefix”:null,”start_idx”:1376,”end_idx”:1393,”safe_urls”:[“https://blackwitchcoven.com/skyclad-morning-meditation-to-raise-release-energy/”],”refs”:[],”alt”:”(Black Witch Coven)”,”prompt_text”:null,”type”:”grouped_webpages”,”fallback_items”:null,”style”:null,”error”:null,”items”:[{“title”:”Skyclad morning meditation to raise & release energy – Black Witch Coven”,”url”:”https://blackwitchcoven.com/skyclad-morning-meditation-to-raise-release-energy/”,”attribution”:”Black Witch Coven”,”pub_date”:null,”snippet”:null,”attribution_segments”:null,”supporting_websites”:[],”refs”:[{“turn_index”:0,”ref_type”:”view”,”ref_index”:0}],”hue”:null,”attributions”:null}],”status”:”done”},”showLoginRequiredCard”:false}
Do you need to practice skyclad?
No.
Skyclad means practicing nude. In some witchcraft traditions, removing clothing can be used as a symbolic way of experiencing direct contact with the body, the elements, or the natural environment. But nudity is not what makes this meditation work.
If you are outdoors, privacy and safety come first. If you are indoors, ordinary comfortable clothing is perfectly acceptable.
The important part is that you are able to breathe comfortably, stand or sit without distraction, and concentrate on the movement of energy.
The meditation
You can practice this for roughly 10 minutes, or extend it if you want a longer energy-raising session.
1. Settle your body
Stand comfortably with your feet grounded. Close your eyes and let your shoulders drop.
Take a moment to acknowledge whatever spiritual forces, guides, deities, or personal powers you normally work with. If your practice does not involve them, simply establish your intention for the meditation.
Do not rush into visualization. First, become aware of your physical body.
2. Breathe energy inward
Take three slow, deep breaths.
As you inhale, visualize energy entering through your nose and moving downward through your body toward the solar plexus.
As you exhale, imagine tension, anxiety, and mental clutter leaving your body.
You do not need to imagine the unwanted energy as something that must be fought. Think of the exhalation as clearing space.
3. Build the energy center
Bring your attention to the solar plexus—the area around the upper abdomen beneath the breastbone.
Imagine a small sphere of energy forming there.
Give the sphere a color if that helps you visualize it. The color does not have to follow a universal correspondence. Choose something that fits the purpose of your working.
Now continue breathing normally while imagining the sphere becoming denser and brighter.
The original meditation describes the energy as being gathered into a ball before it is expanded outward. That is the useful part of the exercise: contain first, expand second. {“fallbackMarkdown”:”(Black Witch Coven)”,”reference”:{“matched_text”:””,”prefix”:null,”start_idx”:3497,”end_idx”:3514,”safe_urls”:[“https://blackwitchcoven.com/skyclad-morning-meditation-to-raise-release-energy/”],”refs”:[],”alt”:”(Black Witch Coven)”,”prompt_text”:null,”type”:”grouped_webpages”,”fallback_items”:null,”style”:null,”error”:null,”items”:[{“title”:”Skyclad morning meditation to raise & release energy – Black Witch Coven”,”url”:”https://blackwitchcoven.com/skyclad-morning-meditation-to-raise-release-energy/”,”attribution”:”Black Witch Coven”,”pub_date”:null,”snippet”:null,”attribution_segments”:null,”supporting_websites”:[],”refs”:[{“turn_index”:0,”ref_type”:”view”,”ref_index”:0}],”hue”:null,”attributions”:null}],”status”:”done”},”showLoginRequiredCard”:false}
4. Add energy deliberately
If you work with guides, deities, spirits, ancestors, or another spiritual current, this is the point where you can invite that presence into the working.
Imagine the energy entering the sphere with each breath.
If you work without spirits, treat this simply as your own vitality, concentration, and magical intention becoming more focused.
State your purpose clearly.
Do not give yourself a vague instruction such as “make me powerful.” Give the energy a job.
For example:
- “I am gathering energy for protection.”
- “I am preparing energy for a cleansing.”
- “I am building power for the spell I will perform next.”
- “I am releasing the tension I carried into this morning.”
5. Expand the sphere
When the sphere feels sufficiently charged, imagine it expanding beyond the boundaries of your physical body.
Let it move around you rather than forcing it outward.
You can visualize it filling the space immediately surrounding you, forming an energetic field around your body.
Pay attention to the difference between raising energy and holding energy. The first builds intensity. The second gives that intensity a shape and purpose.
6. Direct the energy
Once the energy is expanded, decide where it needs to go.
If you are preparing for another spell, visualize the energy moving from your body through your hands and into the tool, candle, vessel, sigil, altar, or other focus you are using.
If this meditation is the entire working, direct the energy toward the intention you established earlier.
The point is not to create the biggest possible ball of energy. The point is to create enough focused energy to accomplish what you actually intended.
7. Release what you do not need
When the working is complete, stop actively feeding the energy.
Let the excess settle.
Take several ordinary breaths and become aware of your feet, your hands, and the physical space around you.
If you work with spiritual beings, acknowledge them in whatever manner belongs to your practice.
Then return your attention fully to the physical world.
Why that order?
The sequence matters because it moves from grounding to breathing, breathing to concentration, concentration to accumulation, and accumulation to direction.
Trying to direct magical energy before you have gathered and contained your attention can leave the exercise feeling scattered. Likewise, continually raising energy without deciding what you intend to do with it turns the meditation into an exercise in intensity rather than purpose.
The original practice describes building the energy at the solar plexus, allowing it to expand, and then using that energy for a subsequent working. This rewrite keeps that basic structure while removing the unnecessary sales material and making the progression easier to follow.
That language can be useful if Spiritual Warfare is specifically part of your magical framework. It does not, however, need to be imposed on every practitioner using the meditation.
The underlying technique is more broadly useful: breathe, gather, contain, expand, direct, and release.
That is the part worth keeping.
