This is however dependent on the true nature of the medium. His ranking as seventh within the hierarchy somewhat diminishes his potency although it is important to accord him the necessary respect – as one should rightly do when dealing with all demonic entities. The demon could be benevolent, malevolent, or even indifferent towards mortal human beings as his true nature is presently unknown.
The dearth of information regarding the demon’s true nature means that he should be treated with caution and only experienced conjurors should attempt to summon him. Showing the utmost respect is therefore the surest way to minimize the likelihood of punitive violence while increasing the probability of desirable outcomes. It is also unknown whether this demon is nocturnal, diurnal, or both further highlighting the existent information gap on this Mersilde.
The ritual for calling forth this demon is akin to the one used in the evocation of the other servitor demons of Duke Syrach. It is a fairly complicated procedure which tasks the medium to not sin or have any sexual acts for three days before finally conducting the last steps in the process of the invocation of Mersilde. This is the most basic ritual for invoking the inferior demons under the servitude of Duke Syrach.
History
The oldest accounts of this demon can be found within the grimories of the Secrets of Solomon and the Dictionnaire Infernal. His mention within the Grimorium Verum also does not tell of his origins. The first instance that this demon is mentioned with recorded history is in 1517 during the publication of the Grimorium Verum by Alibek the Egyptian. It is possible that this demon was an ancient pagan god whose identity was lost in history with the spread of Christianity throughout the Middle Ages.
