How To Perform A Luciferian Marriage Rite

witch Wedding

A close friend of the Coven was recently married, and the questions that followed made something obvious: many people on this path are looking for a Luciferian framework for commitment that does not borrow from traditions that reject our values.

Years ago we shared a ritual drawn from The Bible of the Adversary. It remains one of the clearest and most workable Luciferian marriage rites available. Because interest has risen again, we are bringing it back here in full.

This is not a soft or romanticised ceremony. It is a deliberate act of will between two sovereign individuals who choose to bind their paths together under the current of the Adversary. The structure is strong enough to carry real weight, yet flexible enough to be adapted to the specific needs and aesthetics of the couple.

What follows is the rite as we originally presented it, offered again for those who have been asking.

“A good marriage is one which allows for change and growth in the individuals and in the way they express their love.” –

                                                                                                    Pearl Buck

Marriage in the Luciferian sense is an equal partnership between two sovereign individuals who freely choose to grow together, support one another, and strengthen their shared path. It is not about losing yourself or submitting to an external authority. It is about two complete people deciding with clear eyes and full will to walk side by side.

Symbolically this union reflects the living current of Samael and Lilith, the Daimonic masculine and the Daimonic feminine held in balance. It is a celebration of life, desire, mutual power, and the deliberate creation of something greater than either person would be alone.

MY PERSONAL TIP ON TIMING

Because this is a rite of lasting importance, many practitioners like to give thought to timing. The phase of the Moon is often considered. A waxing Moon is frequently chosen because the increasing light symbolically supports growth and the building of something new and enduring. Some also look at the sign the Moon occupies for additional flavour. Moon in Taurus is thought to favour lasting stability, though it can make later separation more difficult if that ever becomes necessary. Moon in Cancer supports emotional reconnection even after time apart. Moon in Libra is considered especially well suited to partnership. Moon in Pisces brings deep empathy but can lack firm structure. Moon in Aquarius often nurtures a lasting friendship within the relationship. Moon in Leo is strongly favourable for romance and brings optimism. Moon in Sagittarius carries similar warmth and expansion but offers less long term stability. Many prefer to avoid Aries, Gemini, Virgo, Scorpio and Capricorn.

It is important to be clear that these lunar considerations are traditional magical preferences rather than fixed requirements.

Luciferianism places the will and intention of the two people at the centre of the working. If the date that works best for your actual lives does not fall on a particularly “favourable” Moon, the rite can still be performed with full effectiveness. Venus and Mars are sometimes examined as the planets of love and desire, and some avoid times when any planet is conjunct Caput Algol at 25 degrees of Taurus or sits at 9 degrees of any sign, especially Sagittarius and Gemini. Fixed stars may also be checked. All of these are optional layers of correspondence that some practitioners enjoy working with.

None of them are mandatory.

What Usually Goes Into a Luciferian Marriage Rite

Attire

There is no required costume. Most couples dress in a way that feels powerful and authentic to them. Black is common, as are deep reds, rich purples, or colours that hold personal meaning. Some wear ritual robes, others choose elegant dark formal wear, leather, or clothing that reflects their personal current (for example Norse-inspired pieces, or something that simply makes them feel sovereign). Jewellery often includes personal sigils, the Luciferian seal, or pieces that represent the couple’s own path. Comfort and presence matter more than strict tradition.

Setting

The rite can be held indoors or outdoors. Many prefer a private space that can be fully controlled: a temple room, a cleared living space, or a secluded outdoor location at night. An altar is usually present and may hold:

  • Two chalices or cups (one for each partner)
  • A central flame or shared candle
  • Personal tools or symbols of Samael and Lilith (or other forms of the Adversarial current the couple works with)
  • A cord, ribbon, or length of leather for a symbolic binding if the couple wishes to include a handfasting element
  • Incense that feels appropriate (often something dark, resinous, or personally meaningful)

Structure

A typical Luciferian marriage rite is relatively simple and focused. It usually includes:

  • Opening and establishing the space (often with the compass or a circle of a form the couple already uses)
  • Statements of individual sovereignty and then of chosen union
  • An exchange of vows written by the couple themselves (these are rarely traditional religious vows; they tend to emphasise mutual power, loyalty, growth, and freedom within the bond)
  • A shared drinking from the chalices
  • A symbolic act of binding or joining (handfasting, exchange of rings or tokens, or both)
  • A declaration that the union is made by will under the current of the Adversary
  • Closing of the space

People often add further personal elements. Some write and sign a private compact that outlines the nature of their partnership. Some exchange specially made sigils that represent the union. Some perform the rite skyclad if both partners find that empowering. Some include a small number of trusted witnesses who stand as guardians of the working rather than as conventional wedding guests. Many end with a private feast or shared offering that feels celebratory rather than solemn.

The overall tone of a Luciferian marriage rite is serious but not heavy. It is an act of deliberate choice between two people who already stand in their own power and are choosing to align those powers. The emphasis is on clarity, mutual respect, and the creation of something stronger than either would be alone. What follows is the rite itself, offered again for those who have been looking for it.

VOWS

Vows sit at the heart of a Luciferian marriage rite. Unlike traditional religious vows that often emphasise obedience, sacrifice, or external blessing, Luciferian vows are declarations of will made by two sovereign people. They are written by the couple themselves and spoken with full presence. The language is usually clear, direct, and free of borrowed piety. What matters is that each person states what they are choosing and what they are offering from a place of genuine power.

Most effective Luciferian vows follow a recognisable internal structure even when the exact wording is unique to the couple. A common and strong pattern moves through four movements.

First comes the statement of self. Each person briefly affirms who they are and that they stand complete before the other. This prevents the union from being framed as two halves becoming whole. Examples of this opening movement include phrases such as “I stand here as myself, whole and unbroken” or “I come to this moment in the fullness of my own power.”

Second comes the recognition of the other. This is where each person names what they see and value in their partner. It is not flattery. It is clear sight. A person might speak of the other’s strength, clarity, desire, loyalty, or the particular current they carry. This section roots the vow in real perception rather than idealised projection.

Third comes the declaration of chosen alliance. Here the actual commitment is spoken. Luciferian vows tend to avoid absolute lifelong promises that leave no room for change. Instead they often emphasise ongoing choice, mutual strengthening, and the deliberate decision to walk together. Language such as “I choose to bind my path with yours,” “I offer my strength to our shared becoming,” or “I will stand with you as an equal and an ally” is common. Some couples include a statement of what they will protect or defend in one another.

Fourth comes the sealing statement. This is usually short and decisive. It may call upon the current of the Adversary, upon Lilith and Samael, or simply upon the will of the two people present. Examples include “By my will this is done,” “Under the light of the Adversary I make this bond,” or “So it is spoken, so it is lived.”

Some couples prefer a mirrored structure in which each person speaks the same form of vow with only the personal details changed. Others prefer fully individual vows that reflect the distinct voice of each partner. Both approaches work well. Mirrored vows create a strong sense of symmetry. Individual vows allow greater personal precision.

Another workable structure is the compact style. In this form the vows function almost like a spoken contract. Each person states what they bring to the union, what they ask for, and what they commit to in return. This style suits couples who value clarity and explicit agreement. It can later be written down and signed as a private document if desired.

A third variation is the elemental or directional structure. Some practitioners link parts of the vow to the quarters or to elemental forces they already work with. One section may speak of the foundation they will build together, another of the passion they will feed, another of the intellect and strategy they will share, and another of the spirit or vision that will guide them. This approach weaves the marriage rite more tightly into an existing magical practice.

Regardless of structure, most Luciferian vows share certain qualities. They are spoken in the present tense. They avoid language of ownership or diminished selfhood. They emphasise mutual elevation rather than sacrifice. They leave room for the people involved to continue becoming. And they are short enough to be spoken with full attention rather than read from a long script.

Couples are encouraged to write their vows in the days leading up to the rite and to speak them aloud several times beforehand. The act of writing is itself a magical process. It forces clarity about what is actually being promised. On the day of the rite the vows should be delivered from memory or from a simple card if needed, but never rushed or mumbled. The voice carries the will. The words should be heard clearly by the partner and by any witnesses present.

Some couples choose to exchange physical tokens while speaking the vows. Rings, cords, sigils, or personally made objects can be given at the moment the commitment is declared. Others keep the focus purely on the spoken word and leave the exchange of tokens for a separate moment. Both are effective.

The most powerful vows are those that could only have been written by the two people speaking them. Templates can provide structure, but the living current comes from the specific truth each person is willing to speak in the presence of the other. When done well, the vow section of the rite becomes the moment when the abstract idea of union becomes concrete, spoken, and irreversible by anything except the future will of the same two people.

RITUAL PREPARATION

The ritual that follows was originally drawn from The Bible of the Adversary. It remains one of the clearest and most workable structures available. We are genuinely glad to place it back in your hands for those who have been asking.

The Rite should include a Priest or a well-vested student of the Luciferian Path. Participants should find their own associations within the rite. The following offices are intended for the rite of marriage:

Priest: Conducting Ceremony

Matron of the Elder (Lilith)

Asmodai – Companion or Best Man

Brides Maids (Lilitu)

Leviathan – Ring bearer

Angels of Chaos (Ushers)

The Priest or reading Luciferian in charge of the ceremony should wear the image of the Infernal Union; the rite is not required to be in black or any other color. It should be made according to the desire and wants of the bride and groom.

MARRIAGE RITUAL

PART I

The announcement of faith

ba nãm i âharman

(in the name of Ahriman)

We gather here to celebrate the union of two.

Life is a path of exploration; of conquering what you fear, helping those close to you and always doing what you instinctively feel is right.

Life is about change, in the spiritual sense of a Luciferian it aims for the heights, while always exploring the darkness within.

Life is about compromise and trust placed on those who earned it.

Life is about exhalting the powers within and making the world a better place.

When two are joined together there is a union of opposites. The Luciferian spirit itself is radiant in the union of Samael and Lilith, our symbol of Infernal Union is a reminder that the Spirit of Lucifer is brightest in the union of opposites.

PART II. THE CALLING

Leviathan, rise up from the abyss and encircle the two lovers in union. For in union there is strength, where there is strength power is possible.

How many hath joined the flesh together to beget Gods and Goddesses upon this earth?

To the one who fell from the highest reaches of the empyrean realms, whose essence was brighter than the sun.

To the Archon who brought the fire from heaven to the clay of humanity, herein is the spark of life!

I call unto the two Grigori to bless this union:

Anma-el and Asbeel gather here and bless this rite.

The union of marriage is a sacred act of dedication to the partners chosen. Let none defile the sacred marriage of two dedicated to the illumination of each other.

By the blades of Azazel may the swords of blackened flame clash together and guard thee always.

May Hecate hearken to the circle of the wise and illuminate both the Bride and Groom.

PART III. DEDICATIONS

In the name of Lucifer, the illuminated,

Whose name is Samael

Will you take this man as your mate, who will honor you and uplift you as Babalon, whose is sacred and powerful in the light of the Fallen and Risen one,

Will you have and hold this man in sickness and health, to always seek to avoid the path of ignorance?

[the bride will affirm and She places the ring on his finger and recites her own oath]

In the name of Lilith, the mother of spirits

Whose is both terrible and nurturing

Will you take this Daughter of mine, to have and to honor as an equal, to raise her up as Babalon, to hold and illuminate as the fallen and risen one, will you have him to hold in sickness and health, to always avoid the path of ignorance?

[the groom will affirm and He places the ring on her finger and recites his own oath]

Heralds of the path of darkness illuminated by fire, by the path of the fallen and risen

I now pronounce you wife and husband (or wife and wife, depending on choice)

You may Samael and Lilith bless this union in Leviathans coils.

You may embrace. May the blessings of the fallen angels be upon you.

May Maiden, Mother and Crone embrace you,

It is DONE!

No-Ritual Commitment

If you do not want a full formal ritual but still wish to mark your commitment in a way that feels closer to a pagan handfasting or hand gathering, the spoken vows themselves can carry the entire weight of the working.

In this simpler approach the couple stands together, joins hands or binds them lightly with a cord if they choose, and speaks words that declare their alliance.

No elaborate circle or long ceremony is required.

The power sits in the clarity of what is spoken and the will behind it.

For those who want the language to sit more explicitly within the darker current, the following vow forms offer a stronger adversarial tone while remaining suitable for a handfasting style exchange.

Individual Dark Vows

Partner A

I come to you as one who has already chosen the darker road. In you I see a matching hunger and a refusal to kneel. I offer you my loyalty forged in shadow, my desire without apology, and my strength without dilution. I will stand with you as equal and as accomplice in our becoming. By the current of the Adversary and the fire that refuses heaven I make this vow. It is done.

Partner B

I stand unbroken in my own night. I see the depth of your will and the beauty of your defiance. I give you my devotion as one sovereign to another, my power freely joined, and my refusal to ever ask you to become light for the comfort of others. Together we will feed what the world calls dangerous. Under the gaze of Lilith and Samael and by my own dark will I seal this union. So it is spoken.

Commitment B4 Lilith & Lucifer

Here is a powerful paired set written as a dedication that calls on Lilith and Lucifer. It is structured so the woman speaks first to the man, then the man speaks to the woman.

These vows can be used as they are or reshaped until every line feels exact. The names of Lilith and Lucifer may be kept, replaced with other forms of the Adversarial current the couple works with, or removed entirely if the focus is to stay solely on the two people. The structure remains strong either way.

Woman to Man

Before Lilith who will not be ruled and before Lucifer who brings the unapologetic light, I stand in my full power and look at you. I see the force you carry and I do not ask you to make it smaller. I promise you my loyalty freely given, my desire without shame, and my strength joined to yours. I will walk beside you as an equal, never behind you and never above you. I will guard what we build and I will feed the current that runs between us. By my own will and in the presence of these forces I bind myself to you as partner and as ally. This is my promise. So it is spoken.

Man to Woman

Before Lucifer who refuses the smaller life and before Lilith who claims her own nature without apology, I stand complete and face you. I see the fire in you and I do not ask you to dim it. I promise you my loyalty freely given, my desire without softening, and my strength joined to yours. I will walk beside you as an equal, never ahead of you and never beneath you. I will protect what we create and I will keep feeding the power that moves between us. By my own will and in the presence of these forces I bind myself to you as partner and as ally. This is my promise. So it is sealed.

Hail Lucifer!
Hail Lilith!
