Haristum, Second Servitor of Hael and Sergulath

Haristum is another of the subordinate demons ascribed to the four chief demons who serve under the government of Satanachia. Like the other demons within his hierarchy, this demon is also under the servitude of Hael and Sergulath. He is solely mentioned within the Grimorium Verum thus enshrouding him in mystery. The lack of comprehensive information regarding this demon is unsurprising given that this is a running theme throughout this grimorie. As a result, not much else is known regarding this demon due to the lack of details regarding his demonic background.

Haristum is said to be capable of making the conjuror pass through fire without it bringing him / her any harm whatsoever. The Grimorium Verum states the following regarding this demon: “Haristum, who can cause anyone to pass through fire without being touched by it.” His office is evidently protective although it does not grant the conjuror absolute invincibility. It can still be a useful weapon however given the right context and his potency cannot be underplayed – this is especially seeing as he is the second demon mentioned within his hierarchy.

Given the lack of detailed information regarding this demon within the circles of demonology, it is obvious that his true nature is unknown. Likewise, it is impossible to know his true motives sans the relevant information. It is thus unknown whether this demon is entirely trustworthy as he could be malevolent, benevolent, or even indifferent towards mortal human beings. It is therefore necessary that great caution is taken when dealing with obscure otherworldly entities. Better yet, conjurors with zero to modest experience should attempt summoning more familiar demons.

This demon also is summoned through the same ritual outlined in the Grimorium Verum for calling forth inferior demons. This ritual is provided within the Third Book of the Grimorium Verum. It requires the medium to avoid any form of biblical sin nor have sexual contact for three days. After this, the process of the invocation of the demon can be conducted by the medium. Despite its seeming complexity, it is the most basic ritual for invoking the inferior demons and quite practical. The entire ritual is detailed within the Grimorium Verum for conjuror’s convenience.

History

Like the other demons within this hierarchy and several others within the Grimorium Verum, there is not much historical information regarding Haristum. The first time that he is mentioned within recorded history is on the publication of the Grimorium Verum in 1817 when he was listed. The likelihood is that Haristum was an early pagan god who was cast as a demon with the spread of Christianity throughout the early world in the Middle Ages. Ancient Middle-Eastern mythologies and early Graeco-Roman narratives do not mention this demon further adding to the mystery around him.
