Sariel is one of the Watchers who rules over Aries and presides over the summer solstice. According to the Enochian writings, he is not the same as Uriel and he is a fallen angel that teaches the course of the Moon.
The Hebrew’s lore mentioned Sariel as the son of Lilith and Samael. (some accounts mentioned Asmodeus). In the Judaic tradition, his name means “Command of God” and Origen identifies him as one of the seven angels with primordial powers. He is also one of the few benevolent angels of death.
Other Spellings: Sarakiel, Saraqael, Saraqel, Suruquel, Suriel, Zerachiel
Appearance:
Sariel’s face flames like fire and he appears reluctantly flying through the air with 130 warriors, and they all have flaming faces too. He is usually depicted as an Ox. Some persons said that he appears in this form when invoked. This form of an ox symbolizes his celestial origin.
Abilities:
According to the Watcher’s Lore, Sariel taught the nature of emotion and sorcery. He taught the course of the moon. It might have also been Sariel/Araziel who instructed Goddess Hecate on the art of witchcraft.
Sariel teaches the witch on how to work intuitively. He guides her to understand the lunar rites and center her magick based on the moon phases. He is not only the protector of the Moon but also one of the 9 guardians of the summer equinox.
In Gnosticism, Sariel is invoked for his protective powers. He is said to have an evil eye that can hurt anyone it is cast upon.
You can call for his guidance when faced with death or a challenging situation. He is always available to bring comfort and hope to your life.
Associations:
Sariel is associated with Taurus or Bull. In the Luciferian Tarot, he is the Knight of Cups and appears as a dream vision, like an angel floating in front of the Moon spilling forth a cup. His eyes and robes are usually white in color, yet he has a sinister and pale visage.
Summoning Sariel:
Sariel can be called forth in the middle of the night of Yom Kippur using the prayers and acts of sages and elders. He gives enlightenment to those who call upon him. It is said that Pifiron carries the secrets of the firmament that have already been sealed by Sariel. Then these secrets are revealed to the elders.
In the War of the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness (also known as the Triumph of God), one of the Qumran texts, this spirit is one of the four leaders of the forces of good. With four towers, and each has a name of an archangel inscribed on their shield. Sariel is assigned to the third tower.
