Scirlin, the Emissary of Hell

Scirlin is another demon mentioned within the Grimorium Verum although he is not tied to any hierarchy. This demon is tied to the Qlipha Golab which is associated with Mars and the color black. He is also tied to the day Tuesday and the astrological hour of Mars as consistent with the spirits of Geburah. Scirlin is an emissary of hell charged with relaying messages especially to and from the leadership of hell. He is described as an intermediary who facilitates communication between conjurors and far superior demons such as Astaroth, Beelzebub, and Lucifer. For this reason, he is commonly referred to as “the Messenger Spirit” albeit colloquially. Not much else is known regarding this demon as consistent with several other demons mentioned in the Grimorium Verum.

The Grimorium Verum posits that Scirlin has the power of Emperor when summoned and he can compel other demons to appear in spite of themselves once an invocation has been made. Despite being in direct servitude of Lucifer, he is never mentioned alongside Agliarept and Satanachia – this is another factor which contributes to the mystery around this demon. Despite his seeming simplicity, his direct association with the three chief devils is an obvious indicator of potency and great care should be taken when dealing with this spirit. It goes without saying that conjurors with modest to zero experience should give this demon a wide berth.

Since there is lack of much credible information regarding him, there can be no way of really knowing his true nature thereby creating a risk of sorts. It is only known that he is the personal messenger of the chief devils. Scirlin only appears first in recorded history with the publication of the Grimorium Verum in 1817. The meaning here is that there can be no way of definitely knowing his true motives when he is invoked. The demon could be malevolent, benevolent, or even indifferent towards human beings. For this reason, it is preferable that conjurors with modest to zero experience do not try to summon him and instead opt for more familiar entities.

This demon is summoned during rituals which require the involvement of the three chief devils posited in the Grimorium Verum. Writing his invocation and character upon a piece of virgin parchment and reading it out loud causes this demon to come in anticipation of the conjuror’s message or request towards the chief devils. This process is very simple although it noteworthy that proceeding with attempting to call forth any of Beelzebub, Lucifer, or Astaroth poses a very great risk to the conjuror. Since there are other lesser potent demons with similar capabilities, it is always best to opt for these regardless of one’s experience with demons.

History

This demon was first mentioned in recorded history through the publication of the Grimorium Verum circa 1817. There are no discernible correlations between this demon and ancient Middle-Eastern mythology or early Graeco-Roman stories. He was possibly an olden pagan god who was demonized with the spread of Christianity throughout Europe in the Middle Ages.

Attributes of Scirlin

  • Scirlin is an emissary of hell tasked with relaying communications from the three chief devils to other beings. Any rituals involving the chief devils must be done by first of all invoking him to grant passage / permission.
  • Not much else is known regarding this demon as he is not mentioned within any other major grimories. The lack of details regarding the listed demons is a running theme within the Grimorium Verum as it was tailored to hide information as opposed to sharing.

When to summon Scirlin

Scirlin can be called forth when one needs to communicate with the three chief devils – Astaroth, Beelzebub, or Lucifer. As an emissary, his office predominantly deals with the relaying of messages as posited within the Grimorium Verum.

Ritual Time: This demon is strongest on Tuesdays during the astrological hour of Mars

Items Required

  • Virgin parchment
  • Quill
  • The character of Scirlin
  • Holy water

Precautions:

  • Great care should also be taken by the conjuror to protect themselves from otherworldly energies prior to the start of the ritual. This is done through mentally envisioning a protection circle and entering it.
  • As with every other demon, it is necessary to accord this Elelogap his respect. This not only prevents / reduces malevolent intent but also increases the likelihood of desired outcomes.
  • Over-reliance on demonic energy is not advisable as it has been posited to affect unrelated parts of one’s life.

Steps

  • The conjuror should prepare for the ritual by balancing their energies through power meditation first.
  • They should then say the following prayer as they wash their arms and face with the holy water: “Lord God, ADONAY, who hast formed man in Thine image, I, the unworthy and sinful, beseech Thee to sanctify this water, to benefit my body and soul, cause me to be cleansed.
  • On the chosen Tuesday, during the astrological hour of Mars, the following invocation is to be written on virgin parchment using the consecrated quill: “Heloy Tau Varaf Panthon Homnorcum Elemiath Serugeath Agla On Tetragrammaton Casily.
  • The characters of the chosen chief devil should also be written on the same virgin parchment before summoning the demon.
  • Saying the invocation out loud seven times causes the demon Scirlin to come whereupon the conjuror can place their request or go ahead to summon the chief devils – this is however not advisable for conjurors across any level of experience.
  • The prayer for the dismissal of Scirlin is: “Go in peace unto your abode and let there be peace between you and I, and be ready to come to me when you are called, in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen,”
