Serguthy is another demon mentioned within the Grimorium Verum having dominion over a select group of eight demons – this demon presides over these eight in conjunction with Hades. The demon is stated to have been born of Satanachia within other quarters. There are no mentions about this demon within other major grimories thereby contributing to the dearth of information regarding him. The lack of detail regarding demons’ specific identities is a major and recurrent theme throughout the Grimorium Verum and the case of Serghutthy is no different.
The Grimorium Verum states the following regarding this demon: “Serguthy has power over maidens and wives, when things are favorable”. This demon is also referred to as the “Demon of Lust” with demonology circles although the title hardly ever appears within the context of practice. It is said that falling into his servitude renders one eternally drawn to his service and he is known to contort the sexual desires of women to suit his purposes – this implies a discernibly malevolent entity. As such, great care should be taken when dealing with this demon in order to minimize the chances of malevolence while increasing the likelihood of a desirable outcome on the part of the medium.
There are also other even darker aspects of the demon’s capabilities. He is said to be able to bestow powers to witches and sorcerers in return for the chance to possess the most gifted child within the family. It is presently unknown which exact powers he can bestow upon the conjuror in return for such a dark price. Nevertheless, this further highlights the need for only experienced conjurors to even contemplate his invocation as any mistakes may attract dire consequences.
Serguthy can be summoned using the same ritual for summoning inferior demons posited in the Grimorium Verum. It is a tasking ritual which is outlined in the Grimorium Verum specifically for this use. The ritual asks the medium to avoid all forms of biblical sin nor have any form of sexual contact for a period of three days. After this, the last steps in the process of the invocation of Serguthy can be done by the medium. Despite this seeming difficulty, it is the simplest ritual for invoking the inferior demons posited within the Grimorium Verum.
History
Unlike the other demons within the Grimorium Verum, this demon is not entirely shrouded in mystery. There are accounts which cite him as being a Haitian voodoo demon associated with the induction of charm and lust within people of the female gender. There are accounts which state that he is mentioned within Egyptian hieroglyphics as having possessed Ramesses II during his reign. The first time he is mentioned within recorded history however was with the publication of the Grimorium Verum in 1817.
