The Moon Goddess
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated by the moon. There’s something about its ethereal light that has always drawn me in. As I grew older, I learned that the moon is associated with magic and mystery – two things that have always been dear to my heart. In many ways, the moon goddess represents everything I love about being a witch. She is powerful and beautiful, and her energy can be both comforting and intense. For me, she is a reminder that there is so much more to this world than what we can see with our eyes. She reminds me to tap into my intuition and trust my inner knowing. Whenever I work with the moon goddess energy, I feel connected to something bigger than myself – something ancient and wise. There Is nothing like working with this powerful energy to remind you of your own potential.
The moon goddess is an ancient figure embedded in many cultures across the world. She symbolizes feminine energy and a deep mystery that captivates us all. Each full moon brings a special kind of power, which we can thrive off if we have the right intention and conduct rituals to honor her. Incorporating full moons into our own spiritual practice gives us an opportunity to commune with the divine purpose of the moon goddess and align ourselves with her cosmic calling. Her strong presence can help us unlock hidden meaning, courage, potential, fertility, guidance, and magic as or full awareness expands outward.

She represents the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth
The goddess of the moon is a timeless representation of life, death, and rebirth. As she traverses the night sky, her graceful presence brings with it a comforting reminder that life is an ever-evolving cycle. She changes shape as she moves in a continuous rotation, gradually bringing in new light into the world and pushing away darkness. Her phases draw attention to the inevitability of change while encouraging growth and acceptance of life’s mysteries. In her ultimate form as a symbol of this greatest of cycles, she reminds us all to celebrate life even in its most unforgiving moments.
The moon goddess can be invoked for protection, healing, and guidance
The moon goddess is an ancient protector figure that can grant so much to those who invoke her ancient powers. Many cultures across the world have worshiped this divine being for centuries, each one developing its own unique rituals and mythology surrounding her. When summoned, she can bring about protection, healing and guidance. Those who believe in her power see her as a healer of body, mind, and soul; a source of strength to overcome whatever hardships may be encountered; and a leader to point people in the right direction. Invoking the energy of the moon goddess can bring great comfort and clarity into a person’s life.
Offerings to the moon goddess can include food, drink, flowers, or anything else that is meaningful to you
On the night of a full moon, it can be a beautiful experience to pay homage to the ancient goddess of the heavens. Offerings to her can include items that are special to you, such as food that symbolizes nourishment and abundance, drinks that represent life and energy, or even heartfelt messages written on paper. Flowers are also common choices for lunar offerings, as petals of color evoke dreams and optimism in her honor. But whatever you choose to give as an offering should come from the heart. This is especially true if these items hold personal significance for you – using an item that reminds you of your own ambition or courage is a great way to express adoration for the celestial queen in the sky.
Spend time outside under the light of the full moon to connect with her energy
Taking time to appreciate the beauty of the full moon is a wonderful way to connect with her energy. Going outside on a clear night and admiring her glow can be an incredibly calming and healing experience. It’s as if the moon has a special power, allowing us to tap into our intuition and view matters in our lives from a different perspective. Taking this time to pause, center ourselves, and breathe deeply can give us clarity and peace of mind. Achieving a greater connection with the moon is possible when we slow down and spend some quiet moments under the light of her majestic presence.
The Gods & the Full Moon
In our Black Witch Coven moon rituals, the God also holds a place. Especially since our rituals, involve spellcasting, or requesting for the manifestation of desires, and wishes for ourselves, and for our clients, the power of masculine divine energy cannot be ignored. We work with Lucifer on most of our moon events, and with other gods on the night, depending on what the goal is for that full moon evening.
The 14 days leading up to the full moon is called the waxing moon period, and the 14 days after the full moon is called the waning moon. On the night of the full moon, our Black Witch Coven rituals involve asking the gods with the power of the growing waxing moon, to give us support, so we can achieve our goals, especially over the coming month. In the same Ritual, we ask using the energy of the waning moon to take away, that which is not serving us, so we can achieve our desires.
In ancient times gods, such as Thoth worked through the phases and the power of the moon cycle. In this photo below you see 14 stairs with 14 gods who refer to the 14 days leading up to the full “healed” moon. From right to left, they are: Min (1), Atum (2), Shu (3), Tefnut (4), Geb (5), Nut (6), Osiris (7), Isis ( , Horus (9), Nephtys (10), Hathor (11), Horus (12), Tanenet (13) and Iunit (14).
According to Egyptian mythology, Horus lost his eye during a battle with Seth (the murderer of his father Osiris) and the eye (called ‘Wadjet’) was subsequently healed by Thoth, who is portrayed at the right-hand side of the picture. The destruction and healing of the eye was symbolically coupled by the ancient Egyptians to the waning and waxing of the moon.
Thank the Gods
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the moon goddess for all that she has done for me. Whether it’s providing a guiding light in my darkest hours or offering a reminder of the vibrant beauty and power of nature, she never fails to lend her support. I feel an immense appreciation every time I gaze toward the night sky and catch glimpse of her silvery presence twinkling softly in the darkness. A tiny token of gratitude doesn’t seem enough, however, I am deeply thankful for her many blessings that have filled my life with hope and wonder.
