Vual is also mentioned within the following grimories: Dictionnaire Infernal, the Pesudomonarchia Daemonum, the Book of Incantations, the Book of the Office of Spirits, and the Discoverie of Witchcraft. He is a Duke of hell with the ability to speak imperfect Egyptian tongues. He is also referred to as “the night demon” albeit within colloquial reckoning.

This demon is knowledgeable of all things in addition to telling of things past, present, and future. He is also able to manipulate time and bring love to men. He is also able to forge new friendships in addition to reconciling people who are feuding or in conflict. Vual is also able to bestow esteem at the conjuror’s request.

History

This demon is thought to have Egyptian origins owing to his ability to speak fluent Egyptian tongues. There are however no discernible mentions of his origins within ancient Middle-Eastern mythology. The oldest accounts of this demon can be found within the De Praestigiis Daemonum which was published circa 1536.

He is said to have belonged to the angelic Order of Powers or the Order of Potestates within the Tikaboo. When he fell from grace, he was demonized together with other popular pagan gods, his name Latinized, and rendered a resident of hell with the advent of Judeo-Christian based religions.

The Ars Goetia states the following about this demon:

“The Forty-seventh Spirit Uvall, or Vual, or Voval. He is a Duke, Great, Mighty, and Strong; and appeareth in the Form of a Mighty Dromedary at the first, but after a while at the Command of the Exorcist he putteth on Human Shape, and speaketh the Egyptian Tongue, but not perfectly. His Office is to procure the Love of Woman, and to tell Things Past, Present, and to Come. He also procureth Friendship between Friends and Foes. He was of the Order of Potestates or Powers. He governeth 37 Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, to be made and worn before thee, etc”

Appearance

Vual is thought to be a unisex demon appearing with long blonde curly hair in humanoid form as well as deep green eyes and a tall stocky build. He is also said to wear golden armor and have white wings when in humanoid form. In demon form, he is said to appear as a mighty dromedary in the Ars Goetia, and the Tikaboo.

There are also accounts within the Luciferian Goetia that posit that Vual appears as a hooded figure wearing conventional Middle-Eastern attire as well as assertions that the demon’s gender is male. This is probably attributable to the insistence by demonolators to use the pronouns “he, him, and his” when making references to Vual which has resulted in the ambiguity.
