Today I’m going to talk about why I don’t believe in good versus evil, right versus wrong, or Black versus white magic. You could be thinking, “….but your website is called black witch coven, and you call yourself black witch!” And this is for the public to easily categorize me with the “standard” concepts and definitions which abound:
- That I am a witch
- That I do not follow “white magick” practices
- That I belong to a coven of like minded people
I know that if I was a “white witch” or a wiccan, this content will not align with my beliefs and therefore I will not feel comfortable following my beliefs or religion (Wicca is a religious practice.) The Wiccan rede states, “An it harm none, do what ye will” or a more modern version
Do what you will, so long as it harms none.
However if I was practicing Hoodoo, I would feel comfortable with some if not all of what was in this site. As Hoodoo is also a “religious practice” with practitioners following a Baptist religion and incorporating prayer and religious ritual into their spell work. If I was a Satanist, I would find most of this content a waste of time, as I would be following Satanic Rituals not magick rituals.
So why am I telling you this? I tell you this to help you understand that each of these disciplines is neither better or worse than my own personal magic practices. What it all comes down to, is one’s perspective in alignment to their belief system. Does your belief system serve you, or enslave you? Do you have success with your magick as you align with your code, or does your code judge you for thinking on your own, and therefore you get a poor result with spell work? Are you permitted to have your own perspective within your belief system or will you be ostrosized?
The problem I have with aligning myself to a specific belief system is that you become trapped by the beliefs and perspectives of the group. You fail at your magick and spells as your are saying and doing things which don’t feel right. They don’t make sense to you, but you are doing it anyway. These beliefs may not hold true for you. But you have to practice within these beliefs, to hold your place within your organization, community or belief system.
For example, if you’re a practicing wiccan, and your young daughter comes home from school and tells you that one of her classmates is tormenting her everyday. He bullies her, steals her lunch, and pulls her hair. You have already told the teacher, and she has done the best she can to stop this child, but it is “out of her hands.” If you are a parent, you know how frustrating this situation is! Is it wrong to cast a spell on this boy to prevent him from wanting to pick on your daughter and destroying her spirit? Should you manipulate and control his actions?
If you are practicing white witch, then you are not permitted to cast such a spell. Is seen as wrong to manipulate another person. A black witch has a different perspective. A black witch believes in protecting oneself first, therefore, if someone is out to hurt you, or your own, then you do whatever is necessary to protect oneself and one’s family. Even if that means containing that little boys actions against your child. My duty is to my own kids. Period.
You might believe it is wrong to cast a spell on a young boy who is teasing a girl at school, but I believe is wrong to let a young girl get tormented and bullied. Especially when there is something I can do about it. You cannot worry about another person’s perspective. Their perspective is correct for how they see the world. You can only worry about what you can change. Your own perspective on many matter always 100% correct.
So if I had to create my own label for how I see myself and my practices, I would say that I’m just a woman with skills on how to protect myself and my family, with a few tricks on how to bring happiness into my life!
