Elelogap, Ruler of the Waters

Elelogap is a demon mentioned within the Grimorium Verum although there is no hierarchy tied. The demon is mentioned as being under the servitude of Agliarept and Tarihimal – both lofty ranking demons. There are also accounts which posit that he is under the command of Sammael although the credibility of these is unconfirmed. This demon also goes by the name Elelogafatel although the name is rarely brought up within the context of practice. Besides the Grimorium Verum, he is only mentioned within the Secrets of Solomon contributing to lack of detailed information regarding him. This is no surprise however given the paucity of details regarding the demons’ nature throughout demonology circles and ancient mythologies.

The Grimorium Verum states the following regarding this demon: “Elelogap, governs matters connected with water”. This demon has control over the element of water and can control it at the behest of the conjuror. This demon can churn up great storms if the conjuror so desires and this ties him closer to nature than most other demons. Despite his seeming simplicity, his abilities can be a potent weapon to be wielded if in a malevolent manner. Not much else is known regarding this demon as common with several other demons mentioned in the Grimorium Verum.

Since there is lack of credible information regarding him, there can be no way of really knowing his true nature thereby creating a risk of sorts. Elelogap only appears first in recorded history with the publication of the Secrets of Solomon in 1517. The meaning here is that there can be no way of definitely knowing his true motives when he is invoked. The demon could be malevolent, benevolent, or even indifferent towards human beings. For this reason, it is preferable that conjurors with modest to zero experience do not try to summon him and instead opt for more familiar entities.

He can be summoned through the same ritual outlined in the Grimorium Verum for calling forth inferior demons. The ritual for summoning demons within his hierarchy is provided within the Third Book of the Grimorium Verum in detail. It requires the medium to avoid all forms of biblical sin nor have any sexual contact for three days. After this, the last steps in the process of the invocation of the demon can be conducted by the medium. Despite its seeming complexity, it is the most basic ritual for invoking the inferior demons and quite practical.

He was quite possibly an olden pagan god who was demonized with the advent of Christianity throughout Europe in the Middle Ages.

  • The seal of the demon
  • Virgin parchment
  • Quill
  • Holy water

Precautions:

  • Great care should also be taken by the conjuror to protect themselves from otherworldly energies prior to the start of the ritual. This is done through mentally envisioning a protection circle and entering it.
  • As with every other demon, it is necessary to accord this Elelogap his respect. This not only prevents / reduces malevolent intent but also increases the likelihood of desired outcomes.

Steps

  • The conjuror should prepare for the ritual by balancing their energies through power meditation first.
  • They should then say the following prayer as they wash their arms and face with the holy water: “Lord God, ADONAY, who hast formed man in Thine image, I, the unworthy and sinful, beseech Thee to sanctify this water, to benefit my body and soul, cause me to be cleansed.
  • The conjuror must stay without committing any sin and have no sexual contact for a period of three days, all the while praying five times in the day, and four times at night.
  • At the chosen time and hour, the virgin parchment should be prepared containing invocations and the Seal of Elelogap.
  • The following should then be recited: “I conjure thee, Elelogap, by the name of the Great Living God, Sovereign Creator of all things, that thou appear in human form, fair and agreeable, without noise or inconvenience, to answer truthfully in all the interrogations that I shall make. I conjure thee to do this by the power of the Holy and Sacred Names.”
  • After the ritual, Elelogap should be dismissed by saying the following prayer: “Go in peace, Elelogap, whence you came, peace be with you, and come every time I shall call you, in the name of the Father + and of the Son + and of the Holy Spirit + Amen”.
  • The character of the demon – contained on the virgin parchment – should then be burnt because he can only serve you once per conjuration.
