Gremory, the 56th spirit

demon logo

Gremory is a duke of hell with dominion over twenty six legions of lesser demons. She is the fifty-sixth demon of the 72 fallen angels ensnared by King Solomon and bound to a brass vessel. The demon is mentioned within the Ars Goetia, the Book of Oberon, the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, the Lesser Key of Solomon, and several other grimories.

Gremory can cause one to be loved by women of all ages, assist in divination of the past, present, and future, and tell of hidden treasures. Gremory is a night demon is one of the few demons who manifest as women although the other hallmarks of riding mounted atop a beast bear similarities to several other demons found within the Lesser Key of Solomon.

Gremory belongs to the sphere of Netzach and her reiging king is Goap. The ruling archangel associated with this demon is Uriel while her angelic counterpart is Poliel. The close resemblance of her name with the word “grimorie” could also be indicative of an underlying association as well.

History

The name “Gremory” has seemingly both Italian and English origins. It is essentially the result of the anglicized term Grimori or Grimorio. This demon has no ties to Hebrew or Aramaic mythology and it is unknown how she ended up within Judeo-Christian reckoning. It is also worth noting that literature pertaining to this demon is scant presumably as a result of her lowly positioning among the 72 Goetia demons.

The Italian term “grimorio” translates to textbook of magic whilst the English term “grimorie” has the same meaning. Consequently, the origins of this demon can be attibuted to these two cultures especially when considering that both languages originated from Latin – the native speech of demons as well as the language commonly used during the nascent stages of this religion.

The first mentions of this demon are found within the Munich Manual of Demonic Magic that was written circa the fifteenth century. It is presently not discernible which literature was used in making assertions about the demon within this book. Like other demons, it is plausible that Gremory was a popular ancient pagan god who was demonized and rendered a resident of hell with the advent of Christianity as a religion.

The demon appears as a woman with a crown riding atop a huge camel. In addition to her own adornments, the camel she rides on is also heavily decorated. She manifests with the crown of a duchess either tied around her waist or placed on her head. She is excessively beautiful with comely features which belie her demonic nature. She is also described as being friendly and void of malevolence. Due to the prevalence of the usage of the pronoun “he” in reference to Gremory, it is plausible that the demon could be androgynous.

How many times have you practiced spirit summoning? I hope it was more than once 😉

I do hear from many people asking this type of question such as, “I called to a demon and he did not answer me…” or “Why didn’t the demon appear when summoned…”, and their issue is that they have followed a book or forum instructions ONLY once (or a few times at best). In this day of INSTANT everything, we have to remember that when you begin on a new path (or learning any new skill), it takes ALOT of time and dedication to the practice. Also, there are MANY other personal skills and abilities which you need to refine to better enhance your “demon connection” skills.

So, keep at it 😉 Practice the ritual EVERY WEEK for months(at least 8 to 12 weeks). Show the demon you are worthy of the connection. Meantime, improve opening of your 3rd eye and dedicate daily time to mediation.

Oh yeah, Gremory. Very tempting, very assembling to the conjurer. Also very funny and sometimes she likes to scare just for fun: she jumped through me during the night, pretending to have overlooked me standing in the floor. That reminded me somehow of Terence Mc Kennas “The Tykes” where he described: “…and they were jumping inside my chest and out again…”. Gremory hangs out with Sitri and according to VK Jehannum (whom you can actually observe with having closed all his major 27 chakras) she has relations with Qulielfi and Thantifaxath. Gremory can help the mage in states of exhaustion, give her Roses and Patchouli and a few nice copper coins.
I heard that her name derived from “Gomori” that means sexual asphyxiation.
