Binding Oil

Binding Oil is a type of magical oil typically used in witchcraft and ceremonial magic to “bind” or restrict someone or something. It’s used to prevent an individual from acting in a certain way, stop harmful behavior, or halt someone from causing you harm or interference. It can also be used to bind negative energies or prevent unwanted influences from affecting a situation or person.

Binding Oil is a versatile tool and can be applied in various ways depending on your intention—whether you’re seeking to stop harmful behavior, control a situation, or limit the freedom of an individual or influence.

How to Use Binding Oil in Spells

Once you’ve made the oil, there are a few different ways you can use it in your magical workings:

1. Anointing Candles

• Bind Someone: Anoint a black candle (representing banishing) or a red candle (representing control) with the Binding Oil. As you do this, focus on your intent. If you’re binding someone, visualize their actions being restrained or stopped. If you’re binding a situation, see the problem being controlled or halted.
• Affirmation: As you anoint the candle, say something like:
  • “I bind your actions, your words, your power, and your will. You will no longer interfere with my peace.”

2. Anointing Yourself

• You can anoint yourself with the Binding Oil if you want to stop harmful influences or actions in your own life. Rub a small amount onto your wrists, neck, or temples, and focus on the specific situation you want to control or protect yourself from.
• Affirmation: While anointing, you might say:
  • “I bind all negative forces. No harm can touch me, and no energy can control me.”

3. Binding a Person

• Physical Binding: For a direct binding of someone’s actions, you can write the person’s name on a piece of paper and then fold it tightly (usually three times, like a trifold). Anoint the paper with the oil, and as you do so, focus on the person being stopped, restricted, or limited in their actions.
• Place in a Jar: After folding the paper, place it in a small jar with some more of the Binding Oil, and optionally add a pinch of salt, vinegar, or black pepper. Seal the jar and bury it away from your home to keep the energy “bound” and contained.

4. Use in Protection Spells

• In a protection spell, Binding Oil can be used to seal off negative energies or harmful influences. For example, you could anoint the four corners of your house or property with the oil while visualizing a protective barrier being created.

5. Bind a Negative Situation

• If you’re facing a situation where something is out of your control, like a problem at work, an unresolved dispute, or an ongoing issue, you can use the Binding Oil to symbolically “bind” the situation. Write a description of the situation on paper, fold it, and anoint it with the oil. Place it in a jar or box to symbolize the situation being “contained” or controlled.
