Psychic Shield Spell

Pranic energy,

How do people normally react when you walk into a room? Are people normally excited or neutral in your energy, or do you somehow just piss people off with the way you are with your energy without even saying a word lol, because that reaction is usually sitting there long before anybody has a conversation with you, and most people spend years blaming their personality or their face or the mood they woke up in when what is actually happening is their field walked in first.

What I mean is that your energy is already doing something the second you come through the door, and other people are already answering that energy whether they know it or not, which is why you can leave a perfectly ordinary afternoon feeling wrung out, or sharp, or strangely sad, and not be able to point to a single sentence that caused it. A lot of the time you are not mysteriously off. Something landed on you, or you walked in already open, or you have been moving through your life with no real edge on your field and the world has been helping itself to you, and if you have been sensitive for as long as you can remember you probably thought that was just how you were built.

I have been a witch all my life, and I am 43 now, so I am not talking about a trick I picked up off the internet last year. I have had decades of watching what happens to a person’s energy when they live among other people, when they do spirit work, when they do client work, when they go home to family and come back smaller than they left.

So this is what I want to do here. I want to tell you what a psychic shield actually is, in ordinary language, because a lot of people use those words and still could not build one if you sat them down in a quiet room and said go.

Then I will walk you through a basic one, the kind I would give somebody who is only just starting to notice that their energy has been collecting other people’s days.

And then I will talk about what this looks like when you have been doing the work for a long time, because those are not the same job, and I do not want you thinking you failed at the simple version just because it is not doing what thirty years of practice does.

What I mean by a psychic shield

A psychic shield is you putting a boundary on your own energy field on purpose, which sounds almost too plain when people are used to hearing about armor and white light and all the rest of it, but that plainness is the point. You already have a field. Call it an aura if that word sits right with you, call it your energy, call it the space around your body that is still you even after you have left the room. It is not a solid wall sitting there by default, waiting to protect you because you are a good person. It moves. It picks things up. It drops things.

Other people’s feelings go into it, the leftover energy in a house goes into it, and if you do occult work, spirit work, spell work, that current goes through it too, and not all of it is polite about leaving when you have finished.

So when I say shield, I mean you are deciding what gets to stay on you and what does not, which is a very different thing from trying to disappear or trying to become some frozen little statue that nothing is allowed to touch. That is not living, and it is also not how good energy work happens, because if you shut yourself down completely you cannot feel the person in front of you and you cannot sit with a spirit either. You are trying to stop being available to every mood in the room, and you are trying to stop taking last night’s work with you into the grocery store, and those two jobs sit inside the same practice even though people talk about them like they are separate.

Look, people mix this up with a protection spell all the time, and I understand why they do, because the two sit next to each other and they can work together very well when you know the difference. A protection spell is work you do, or work you ask a spirit to do with you. A shield is what you are wearing while you walk around being a person. If you only ever get someone else to cover you, and you never learn how to hold your own energy, then when that working thins out you are right back to being an open door, and I have watched that happen with students and I have watched it happen with clients who are otherwise very capable people. The spell was fine. The field underneath it was sloppy, and sloppy is not an insult here, it is just what a field looks like when nobody has been tending the edge.

As an occultist you have to be able to hold your own energy in front of the spiritual world, and you have to be confident in that energy, even on the days when you are not feeling 100 percent sure, because if you are not confident you are going to feel not worthy, and that comes across. Then when you ask for something, why would a spirit help you if you do not even feel like you are worthy of keeping your own space. I want that said, because people think the shield is a picture they are supposed to hold in their head, and the real issue is often that they do not believe they are allowed to have a boundary at all, which is a much older problem than visualization.

And this is not only a witch problem, which is something I want sitting next to the occult piece so nobody walks away thinking this is costume magic. When I am doing energy workings on somebody new, and especially famous people or people who are in sales positions, people who live on their personality all day long, the first thing I do is energy cleansing of some type, because their field is usually full of other people. Customers. Fans. Family. The last argument. The last room they sat in. If I put a shield on top of that without cleaning, I am just trapping the mess in, which is why I keep saying clean first even when we are supposedly only talking about shields, because a shield on dirty energy is how people decide the whole practice does not work.

How this shows up when you are just living

You leave a family lunch and you are not hungry anymore and you also cannot tell if you are angry or she is angry, because the two feelings got into the same space and nobody named them. You do a ritual and for the next two days you feel picked at and you think the spirit is annoyed with you, when sometimes what happened is you opened yourself, you did the work, and you never closed anything behind you, so of course the next two days feel crowded. You go to the shops and come home like somebody wrung you out and nothing “happened,” which is the sentence I hear all the time, and what I mean by that is the happening was energetic, not conversational, so your mind keeps looking for a story that never arrives. You sit next to a coworker who is in a shitty mood and by three o’clock the mood is yours, and then you take that mood home and hand it to whoever is standing in the kitchen.

Sometimes it is the other way around, and this one matters just as much even though people talk about it less because it sounds less spiritual. You walk in and the room changes in a way you did not ask for. People get sharp, or they get too interested, or they start unloading their whole afternoon onto you in a checkout line, and your field is doing something you have not given a job, so it is just out. If you work with darker currents, or you have been in ritual the night before and you did not pack that away, that leftover can sit on you like smoke, and other people feel it even if they could not name it if you paid them. A shield is not only about stopping what comes at you. It is also about not dragging last night’s work through an ordinary Tuesday, and if you have been practicing a long time you already know how easy it is to forget that part because the work feels more important than the grocery store.

None of that makes you weak, and I want that said before anybody starts turning this into a story about being too sensitive or not being cut out for the path. It makes you permeable. Those are different things. Permeable is useful when you are reading someone, or working on someone, or sitting with a spirit, because that is how information comes through. Permeable with no edge is how you lose an afternoon and then blame your personality, and I have done enough of this work to tell you those two states get mixed up constantly, especially in people who were the family sponge before they were ever a witch.

A basic psychic shield

If you are new to this, or new to doing it on purpose even if you have felt energy your whole life, I do not want you building some elaborate thing you saw in a video and then feeling stupid because you could not hold it for twenty minutes. I want you building something small that you can actually feel, because if you cannot feel it you will not keep it, and if you will not keep it then we are just talking, and talking has never protected anybody’s Tuesday.

Stand up or sit, I do not care which, so long as you can feel your feet on the floor, because people skip that part and then they try to put energy work on a body that is already halfway out of itself, which is why the whole thing will not stick.

Breathe down.

Not the pretty chest breath that stays up in the shoulders and makes you think you did something. Down, like you are reminding your body it lives here, because a shield that is only happening in your head is going to fall off the first time somebody looks at you sideways.

Then put your attention in the space around you, and I want to say this plainly so nobody waits for a movie that may never come.

You do not need cinema in your head. Most people do not get cinema. You might get a pressure, or a temperature, or a vague egg shape, or nothing but the decision itself, and the decision still counts because will is part of how this works. See that space about an arm’s length out, over your head, under your feet, and behind you, because the back is where people forget, and that is where a lot of other people’s stuff parks itself when it is not invited in through the front.

If pictures are hard, which they are for a lot of very capable practitioners, use your hands instead of waiting for your third eye to perform.

Rub your palms together until they warm up, pull them apart slowly, and notice that buzz between them, because that buzz is the same kind of stuff you are working with even if you have never called it that. Stretch that feeling around you and stop waiting for it to look like somebody else’s visualization, because their picture is their agreement with themselves, not a standard you have to pass.

Then tell it what it is doing, in words you would actually say out loud to a person sitting across from you, not a poem and not a line you copied because it sounded witchy.

Something like, this is my energy, what is mine stays mine, what is not mine does not get to live here, I can still receive what I choose, I am not locking myself away from my life, I am closing the bit that has been hanging open.

That sentence can be clumsier than that and still work, because the point is that your mind has to agree or the picture collapses the minute you walk back into noise.

Hold it for a minute, not twenty, and while you are holding it find the thin place, because there is almost always a thin place.

For a lot of people that is the back, or the chest, or down around the hips where shame and hunger and other people’s need like to sit. Thicken that.

Then go do whatever you were going to do anyway, because the point is not the sitting. The point is walking around inside it while you make dinner and answer messages and live a life that is not a ritual from morning until night.

Do that in the morning before you leave the house if you can, and do it again after a hard conversation, after you have been online too long, after a waiting room, after you have been in somebody else’s grief, because those are the places a field picks things up even when you think you were “just there.” If you forget, you did not ruin it. You put it back on when you remember, which is how practice looks when you have a job and a family and a body that gets tired, and I would rather you do an imperfect one four times a week than a perfect one you only remember when you are already wrecked.

And if you are sitting there going, but what color should it be, use whatever your body believes, because I have watched people stall for months on a color question that was never the real work. White, gold, black, smoke, clear, I have used all of it depending on the day and on what I needed the edge to do. I have used a thick dark shield when I had to walk through a room that felt nasty and I was not collecting it. I have used something thinner when I still needed to feel the person in front of me. The picture is there to help your mind agree. The agreement is the work, and once you understand that you can stop shopping for the correct aesthetic.

What it looks like when you have been doing this for years

When somebody has been at this a long time, they are not doing a prettier version of that egg, and I want that said because the internet loves to sell advanced as more decorations on the same beginner exercise. They are doing a different job. The basic shield is you putting something on so you can get through the day without coming home wearing everybody. The longer work is knowing what the day actually is, cleaning first, choosing the kind of edge you need, and knowing when to take the thing off so you can sleep like a person instead of a checkpoint.

First they clean, and I will keep saying that until it bores you, because I watch people layer a new shield over old mud and then tell me shielding does not work. Of course it feels heavy. You sealed the wrong thing in. So you scan. You notice the cord from the person who cried on you for an hour. You notice the envy that hit you after you posted something and the comments started doing that little sideways thing they do. You notice that collapsed place in the solar plexus from saying yes when you meant no, which is one of the most common leaks I see and it has nothing to do with how many years you have been practicing. You pull it, you wash it, you burn it off, whatever method you actually use and trust, and then you build, because building first is how the mess gets a new roof.

Then you get specific, because one shield for every situation is how you either go numb or you stay wide open, and both of those feel like failure even though they are usually just a mismatch. The shield I use in a crowd is not the shield I use when I sit down to work on somebody, and it is not the shield I use when I am in ritual with a spirit I have known for a long time. In a crowd I want to be a person and I do not want the wash of twenty other days sitting in my chest by the time I get back to the car. When I am doing energy work I cannot be shut, because then I cannot feel the person, and if I cannot feel them I am just waving my hands and calling it a session. I need a filter. I need to reach, do the job, and not drive home with their life in my ribs. That takes time to learn, and in the beginning you will overdo it one way or the other. You will either feel nothing or you will come home wearing them. That is normal. You adjust, and the adjusting is the actual advanced part, not a more impressive picture.

You also give the thing instructions, because your will likes a clear sentence and the spiritual world answers a clear sentence more readily than a vague hope. Sometimes I want a shield that takes what hits it and breaks it down, so I am not sending a fight back into a room that is already stupid. Sometimes I want it to bounce, because someone is being sloppy with their mouth or their sending and I am not their bin that day. Sometimes it only opens for who I name, which matters if you work with spirits, because otherwise every hungry thing treats your ritual like you left the kitchen open overnight. That last one is not paranoia. That is just manners in a world where attention is food, and if you have been doing this as long as I have you stop needing it to sound pretty.

If you work with protection spirits, you can ask them to stand with that, and I do, because relationship is part of how I work and I am not going to pretend I do all of this as a solo act inside my own skull. What I do not do is hand them my spine and wander off. A spirit can reinforce what you are already holding. They are a lot less interested in dragging a person who will not stand up inside their own skin, and if you have ever wondered why a covering feels thin, that is often the reason. And if you are going to ask, then the relationship is part of the work. Gratitude. Offerings. Showing up again. Not as a tip you leave on the table after you got what you wanted. If you ask to be covered and then you live like you have no say in your own field, the partnership gets thin, and people call that abandonment when it is often just a lack of meeting.

I will tell you how this looks in my own day so you can hear the difference, not so you copy my Tuesday, because I do not need a coven full of people doing a Savannah impression. I clean first, even if it is quick, because I sleep in a city that is loud on more than one level and I do not assume I woke up empty just because I am experienced. Then I set the shield for the day I am actually having. Client day is a filter with a clean edge, and I check it between people the same way you would wash your hands, not because I am precious, because I have learned what happens when I do not. If I am walking into a room I already know is going to try me, family stuff, that kind of weather, I thicken it and I get less available, which does not mean I become cold, it means I stop offering my whole field as furniture. If I am going to sit with a spirit, I hold my own energy first on purpose, because I am not arriving as a spill. I am not always 100 percent confident when I do that, and I want that said, because confidence here is a posture you take, not a feeling you wait for. You do not wait to feel holy. You do the hygiene and you go.

At night I take the day’s shield off, which is the part people forget once they finally get good at putting one on, and then they sleep like they are still at work and they wonder why their dreams are crowded and why they wake up tired in a way that coffee does not touch. Drop it. Wash. Leave something softer if you need a night boundary, especially if your house sits in a loud place or your work has been sitting close to spirits all day. Let your field be a house again, because a house is allowed to lock the door without living like a bunker.

Start where you actually are

If you have never done this on purpose, do the basic one for a week and do not decorate it, even though decorating is tempting and the internet will offer you twelve better versions before you have felt the first one. Feet on the floor, field around you, one sentence about what it is for, then go live inside it and notice what changes in the same rooms you always walk into. That noticing is the training. The fancier work comes later, and it comes easier if your body already knows what an edge feels like, because advanced practice is mostly recognition with better timing.

If you already shield and you still come home wrecked, you are probably skipping the cleanse, or you are using one shield for every situation, or you are sleeping in a battlefield, or you are asking a spirit to hold a job you will not hold with them. Pick one of those and fix that one, because chasing a new method when the old agreement is sloppy is how people stay busy and still tired. You do not need a new aesthetic. You need a tighter conversation with yourself about what you are actually asking your field to do.

Wherever you are on this, I get it, and I mean that in the ordinary way, not the branded way. Some of you are just trying to get through a workplace that eats people. Some of you are opening up to spirits and you feel raw and a bit scared and you do not want to admit that because it sounds like you are not ready. Some of you have been doing this for years and you got sloppy because life got loud, and sloppy after decades is still allowed, it just needs tending. I am not trying to make you into me. I do not want a room full of copies of my practice, because that has never been the point of teaching. I want to touch this enough that you take one action from where you already are, with the energy you already have, in the life you are actually living.

So before you go on to the next thing, put your feet on the floor and build the simple one, and give it a job in a sentence you believe, even if the sentence is clumsy. Then go back into your life and see what still gets through, because that leftover is information, not proof that you failed. If all you manage today is noticing that the room changed you, that still counts, because now you know what you are dealing with, and next time you can meet it on purpose instead of spending the rest of the day wondering why you feel like somebody else.

Witchcraft Psychic Shield Spell with the Full Moon and the Goddess

This has been very popular over the years and still is a favourite with some of our coven members and many of our clients.

Method:

The night before the Full Moon

  • The night before the Full Moon, find a place where your altar will not be disturbed for 24 hours.
  • Put the cauldron in the center with a red candle on the right side; black candle on the left, and a white candle in the back; but do not light them yet.
  • Sprinkle a mixture of equal parts of elder blossoms, marjoram, mint, and rue in an unbroken circle around the cauldron.
  • Into a tiny vial, measure equal drops of oils of clove, frankincense, jasmine, and lavender.
  • Set the sealed bottle in the cauldron and leave until the night of the Full Moon.

On Full Moon night

  • On Full Moon night, take a cleansing bath and robe yourself in white.
  • Carry a good protective and/or purification incense through every room in the house. Make certain that the smoke drifts into closets.
  • Return to the altar and light the candles.
  • Take up the dagger or sward.
  • Face the East and raise the sword in salute. To salute in this manner, simply hold the sword point upward in front of you.
  • Say:

“By the power of the rising Sun, all evil in my life is done.”

  • Turn to the South, salute, and say:

“By the power of the noonday blast, all control is mine at last.”

  • Turn to the West, salute, say:

“By the power of darkening night, my shield is strong, my armor tight.”

  • Turn to the North, salute, say:

“By Full Moon in blackened sky, I am not alone. My help is nigh.
The Goddess’ hands around me stay, to keep me safe by night and day.
Begone, foul spirits, unbidden here. I send you back. I do not fear,
for I have won, I am set free.
You have no further power o’er me.”

  • Face the altar and take up the vial of oil.
  • Put a drop of oil on your finger and anoint your forehead, heart, solar plexus, wrists and ankles. As you do this, visualize a shining blue suit of armor slowly descending over your body until your are entirely protected.
  • Cap the bottle and store it in a safe place.
  • Thank the Powers for their help and extinguish the candles.
  • Apply the oil and repeat the chants whenever you feel the armor is slipping.
