The frightening stages of daemonic possession

Some call them Demons. Others call them negative forces or entities. Whatever they are, they are real and they can destroy not only you but also your loved ones. Most of our group works with the ancient Gods and Goddesses who are now referred to as demons. While we do not state that we understand the full nature of these Demons, we do know that not all Demons are the same type of entity.
This article is focused on the type of entity that actually attacks. It’s not to be read as an all-inclusive statement on daemonic attack, but a general overview that you may be able to use for further investigation.
The word Demon for the purposes of this article is the type of daemonic entity which does attack. Remember, we do not say all Demons attack.
What are demons?
We will start with the definition of the word Demon straight from the dictionary:

What else are they? Creatures from the “hell”? Unclean spirits? Negative entities from another dimension? Something created by our own minds? Demons can be all of these.
Demons have no permanent physical form. You can’t touch them, yet they can touch you. You can feel their energy. You can hear their voices… not only with your own ears, but also in your head. You can even see them. At least in a form they choose to show you.
Demons are perfect manipulators. They will pretend to be something they are not just to gain your trust. Then they will destroy everything. You, your family, your close friends… everything. The more destruction they can cause, the happier they are.
Demons are highly intelligent and manipulative entities. Once they got into your head, they can make requests, they can pretend they need help, they can persuade you to do anything… literally anything
These types of Demons, are the most hateful entities. They prey on the weakest, most vulnerable souls. They suck the energy out of their victims… but also happiness and love. Misery and suffering give them joy.
Not all Demons are the same. Some are stronger, others are weaker. Some can be easy to fight off, others are impossible to repel without professional help. One thing is for sure. There are numerous negative entities that want to spread evil and despair. There is a specialized field that deals with this complex issue – Demonology.

How can demons become attached to a person?
There are many different ways how Demon can attach itself to a victim. There are ways we humans are not even aware of. But since Demons are very intelligent, they can also be very innovative. They may surprise you in places, where you would never expect them to.
Some may think demon possession is something from Medieval times or horror stories. Surprisingly, the modern world is a perfect nest for Demons. As a matter of fact, there is a significant increase in not only demon activity, but also in demon possessions. Why? Mankind is changing. I say, there is more hate in the world than love. People are more selfish. They care less about the world around them. There is less and less love, more and more hate and anger. Our world has a perfect atmosphere for negative entities to feed on. People are desperate, depressed. They are lost. It is much easier for negative entities to take advantage of this and do what they love the most. Destroy people, destroy this world, destroy the love that is left in us.
BWC works on hundreds of demonic attack cases every year. There is one thing for sure and that is there is no specific type of person a Demon likes to attack. To a Demon, you are a human period. A living being, with blood pumping through your veins, and a mind that can be manipulated.
Typically, our clients have been attacked because of the following situations:
- They are under attack due to witchcraft
- Clients performing rituals and opening vortexes within their homes
- Moving into a house that is already possessed or under attack
- Mental Illness
- Long-term drug or alcohol abuse (I don’t cover the reason why in this article, but basically when you’re vibrating at such a low level you are always open to spiritual attack and, you become an easy attack for stronger spirits as well)
- Divination Tools
- Past Life (carrying over attachments from a previous life)
- Walking through or being in a place that is under attack or infested
- Partaking in spiritual practices of any type (I don’t just mean witchcraft. Praying is also opening yourself to the spiritual world too – Think about it 😉
Divination is extremely popular in all types of spiritual systems, and you may be surprised at some of the ways a Demon can attack you if you are not protected.
Ouija Boards
Demons coming through children’s toys. Everyone knows it from horror stories. Fiction, some might say. But sadly not. A popular children’s toy known as Ouija Board is one of the most dangerous tools you can play with.
Ouija board or spirit board is a piece of board with letters, numbers and words “yes”, “no”, “hello”, and “goodbye”. Homemade versions, usually made of piece of large paper, can also include “don’t know”. With planchette or upside-down small glass you can speak with the spirits. But! Nothing is as easy as it seems.
Of course, you can contact the dead loved ones. You can ask if they are okay or if they have a message for you. You can even contact your spirit guide or guardian angel, depending on how you call the entities that are here to help us and guide us. But there are also many low spirits, bad spirits, lost souls that can harm you… and something even worse. Yes. Demons.
There are many documented cases of people communicating with deceased loved ones or friendly spirits, sometimes lost souls that needed help, that weren’t exactly what they seemed. Demons are masters at pretending to be something they are not. They know what works on their victims. For some it is a dead relative, for others a long-dead occupant of the house they live in… but the worst disguise that works on absolutely everyone – the spirit of a lost child.
In the beginning, Demon will gain your trust. It can talk like a real, terrified child who needs somebody to help him or her. And because it is in human nature to help lost children, to give them love and make them feel safe, the victim will open up to that entity in order to spread the love and make the dead child safe and happy again. Using love for their own bad intentions? No problem. Demons are using not only bad human traits but also good ones like compassion and love.
When the victim is opened to the negative entity, the first goal is done. The victim will get obsessive, he or she will talk to that entity again and again. All-day, all night. The individual won’t be able to get that thing out of head. Slowly, he or she will realize something is wrong. Unexpected mood swings, fits of anger. Depression. Bad luck. Loss of appetite or uncontrollable binge eating. No energy.
That little kid or lost soul is probably not what it pretends to be! Desperate calls for help will suddenly change. Now, it will literally eat the victim’s mind. It will haunt him or her. It will start saying things no child would ever say. It will seed negative thoughts into the victim’s head. Dark thoughts, bad ideas. Very bad…
At this point, there is hardly an escape. Evil energy is everywhere where the victim is. He or she may realize it is time to stop it, to do something. But it is usually too late. Demon has full hold over its victim. He can play with him or her like with a puppet. And that is exactly what this entity will do. Slowly, so it can enjoy every moment of it. It will do anything and everything to destroy the victim and everyone around.
Tarot Cards
Tarot cards, seemingly innocent and very popular tool. But don’t get fooled. If you are inexperienced, Tarot cards can be as dangerous as Ouija Boards.
If you know what you are doing, if you know how to protect yourself, if you are able to recognize the negative energy, if you are intuitive enough, you will be safe. If you know what you are doing, Tarot cards can be great help in spreading love and light. It can be an amazing tool to help people, give them hope and guidance.
Tarot Cards are not demonic in nature, but if you don’t know what you are doing, it can easily get out of your hands. Imagine this situation: You read great stories about Tarot cards. So, because you have some really important questions that need to be answered, you bought a very nice pack of cards at your local shop or online. Now sitting at your desk and looking at your new Tarot cards, you get shivers down your spine. You feel that this thing may be true. You might finally get the answers you have been seeking. You open your mind.
However, there is one problem. If you have no experience, how can you know that you are receiving information from your higher self or your spirit guide? It may be from somebody completely else… somebody or something not so nice. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that you shouldn’t learn tarot because you will be under daemonic attack. I’m just saying that you need to always understand that when you are connecting with the spiritual world, you are always open to trickster-style spirits.
If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t do anything at all. If you are not serious about it, don’t play with these things.
Depression
There is a major issue it today’s modern world that also plays a key role. Stress. Anxieties. Worries about the future – not only yours, but also about the future of the people you love the most. People are much more prone to depression. Or some are simply lost. They don’t know what to do with their lives. They have no idea what their purpose of life is. They feel they don’t fit anywhere. They are outcasts. Lost and lonely. Unloved. Failure.
Those type of feelings are exactly what the negative forces are attracted to. Desperation, loss of hope, self-hate, self-pity, self-harm, dark thoughts. But also anger, hate, greed and jealousy that are so common in today’s world. People with those feelings are the most vulnerable ones.
For negative entities, it is easy to give them hope at first. Even just a little bit. “Everything will be alright. Just open your mind to me, I will help you.” But that feeling never lasts long. Or on the other hand, the negative entity often feeds the victim’s desperation. It can whisper into his or her ear: “You are the worst thing that ever happened to the world. You are the lowest of the low,…” And since the victim is already in a bad state of mind, it is very easy to manipulate him or her into doing things they actually don’t want to do and would never do.

It is a modern trend to explore the paranormal world. People visit dark and haunted places known to be infested by evil entities. They visit places that witnessed the worst suffering in the history of mankind. Those people want to be thrilled. They want to be scared. They want to see the evidence of the afterlife. Sometimes just going to places like this without knowing how to protect oneself can be as dangerous as invoking the spirits.
When you visit a haunted place, you go there with a desire to experience something. You are opened to those energies. You want to feel them, hear them, see them. It is like an invitation card. And it doesn’t have to be only Demon who is waiting to jump into your body and mind. There are plenty of other negative spirits – once living human beings, but now all they want to do is to harm. It may be easier to get rid of them, but spirit possession can be as dangerous and destroying as demon ones.
It can be common for these types of spirits to follow you home and cause issue once you get back to where you live. They may even call to other spirits once they hit your house, and even open a portal to the other side, creating more issues for you. Some types of spirits come in legions! If you are open to spiritual attacks like this, and you like to visit haunted houses or haunted locations, make sure you cut all of the chords and all of the spiritual attachments before you start on your journey home. This isn’t always easy. We like to ensure that we have aura cleansing and cord cutting often, so to break these attachments – as we are always in haunted or demonic locations (and performing work for others too).
Demon possession
Once you have opened your mind to the dark entities, things will soon get worse. Only the strongest ones are able to get rid of them without help. But most victims are already weak or in a bad state of mind. They are not able to stand up to those invisible, yet very powerful tyrants. Some victims are lucky to have support from family and friends, who will eventually find the help needed. But some are not as lucky… and some cases do not end well.
Stages of demon possession
Possession occurs in various degrees. From mild demon possession, when the possessed behaves abnormally and the entity is inside his or her mind, but either it is not powerful Demon, or it is not yet fully integrated. To dramatic and deadly demon possessions, when the person is possessed by high-level demon – very powerful one, which is hard to get rid of even with the professional help.
Each possession has similar stages no matter the severity. Also, those stages are similar to spirit possessions, however, spirit possessions are usually not as severe as the demonic ones.
Stage 1: Manifestation
Manifestation is the first contact with a negative entity. This stage is quite non-invasive. However, it can leave deep emotional trauma. At this stage, it is still quite easy to escape.

Stage 2: Infestation
The second stage called Infestation represents a state when the entity infests the life of its victim. His or her personal and daily life. The individual feels the entity is there even when it is not.
This entity can also manifest itself through various activities: poltergeist activity, phantom voices, and noises, etc. At this stage, the victim can start to feel really uncomfortable, even harassed. Yet it can still be solved by simple removal of the spirit from the person, cleansing of the individual, or and perhaps of the area.

Stage 3: Mounting or Oppression
During the third stage the entity is preparing the vessel for complete inhabitation. The individual can feel as if the entity is entering the body. The more the victim fights it, the worse it will get. Those little episodes last only a few minutes or seconds. Some sources call this stage “Oppression”.
The entity will do and say anything in order to urge the individual to allow the full possession. It will drive the victim crazy. The individual won’t be able to sleep or think clearly. Uncontrollable anxiety, anger or sadness are also very common. The goal is to break down the victim.
The whole stage can last for days or weeks… even months, depending on how strong the victim’s free will is. Removing the entity at this stage can be challenging, and we may have to go back several times to deal with the spirit all the other spirits who have come along to enjoy the attack.

The spirit knows who we are, and while it is not scared of us, it’s definitely a dance we need to perform, where we are asking the spirit to move along from this human vessel. As there are many different types of spiritual entities, the success rate of moving the spirit off of the individual depends on the mission of the spirit.” – Savannah
Stage 4: Full Possession
The final and the most dangerous stage – Full Possession. It is very rare, but it happens. After repeated episodes of short-term possessions, the victim fully allows the entity to take control, to merge into one, and permanently co-inhabit his or her body.
In cases where the individual has been under full possession for many years, it is extremely challenging to remove the Demon from the person without risking their life. In most cases, the individual will be dead before the Demon leaves their body.
I’ll talk about this in detail, by sharing a case study you may know well, and that is the case of Annelise Michael, a German female, where after many years of the Demon possessing her body, the exorcist was unable to remove the Demon even after nearly 70 attempts. The priest went on trial, as he was blamed for taking Annelise off medication, but the truth is that the Demon was thoroughly emerged in Annelise, and had no intention of leaving her body while she was alive.

There are many documented cases of demon possession. One of the most famous is the case of Anneliese Michel. It occurred during the 1970s in Germany.
Anneliese was a good girl from a Catholic family. She had a very strong belief in God. Everyone described her as a kind and loving child. When Annelise was 16 years old, she started to act oddly. Her family was describing it as a strange trance state. Those episodes stopped as quickly as they had started, but it was the ominous omen of the things yet to come.
One year after that, the episodes started again. Annelise woke up in a trance-like state, her bed completely wet, her body in convulsions, shaking. Her parents took her to a neurologist. She was diagnosed with epilepsy, which causes loss of memory, audible and visual hallucinations. Annelise started to take the pills and she enrolled at University. But instead of getting better, she was getting worse.
Annelise was still taking the pills, but she started to be convinced she was possessed by a demon. She started to look for more information. Everywhere she went, she was seeing the face of the Devil. She also claimed she was hearing some voice constantly whispering into her ears.
In search for help, she contacted one priest. But she was refused and advised to go to the doctor. It wasn’t entirely the priest’s fault. Exorcism is a very difficult and complex process. There are many official procedures to be done. The first step is obviously to exclude any medical problem. But at that time Annelise’s ‘hallucinations’ reached the highest points. She was absolutely sure she was possessed. Even her mother started to believe it and she was also looking for help.
Now you might be asking: “Why Annelise?” She was a kind and good-hearted girl from a Catholic family. Well, the answer won’t surprise you by now. Young Annelise, just like most children at some point, was playing with something she shouldn’t – Ouija board. It opened the door for evil.
Annelise case was different. She wasn’t possessed by one Demon, not by two or three… not even by five like sources say. She was possessed by eight evil entities, not only Demons. And she took them in willingly, it was her own decision. She sacrificed herself for the world.
After a long approving process by the Church, the exorcism finally took place. It lasted 10 long months. 67 separate exorcisms in total… but nothing helped. Annelise was too fragile after such a long fight. She died on 1st July 1976 from exhaustion and malnutrition. During the autopsy there were no diseases or disorders found in her body. Nothing that could cause the strange and terrifying behavior.
How to get help
Now the big question: What to do if you or someone close to you is experiencing demon oppression or even demon possession? Answers to questions like this are never easy. It depends on the stage of the possession, on the entity, and on the individual’s ability to fight it.
Self-help
For some, simple cleansing can help. Sage, palo santo wood, protective crystals, blessed medallion, holy water, simple prayers – and the prayer doesn’t have to do anything with the religion. It can be some mantra, song, or poem that gives you the energy and confidence to fight evil. Words are very powerful weapons. You can create your own protection “prayer” that has nothing to do with God or Higher power. The important thing is that those words should make you feel the love. It must be something that warms your heart and gives you strength.
You have to believe that those words, sage, crystals or medallions will help. You have to have love and light in your heart – that is the biggest protection power. If you truly believe, it will help. If you have doubts, you have to seek professional help.
How to get help for Demonic Possession
Professional help
If you are not able to help yourself on your own, there are always people ready to help. You can reach out to a local paranormal team. In this time and age, there are plenty of experienced teams who are willing to travel to you to help. They know what to do. They may have the right contacts to get the help you need.
If you are lucky enough, there might be some psychic or shaman near where you live who can also help. Some have the ability to get rid of Demons and negative entities. If not, they will tell you what to do. Those people, if they are the real deal, will never say “no” to you. They are here to help, to spread love and the light, to fight the evil.
If none of these options suits you, there is one more. The Church. Priests and Exorcism. Priests should help to all people, not only to those who believe. If they are not willing to help to unbelievers, find another one – more open-minded, more good hearted.
What if you don’t believe in their teachings? Don’t worry. No one will judge you. No one will force you to believe. They are here to help.
An interesting fact is that religious exorcism helps even to those who don’t believe. Why? Is it some divine force? Not really. Priests really believe in things they do and say. They truly believe the divine power helps them to expel dark and negative entities back to hell. Their strong will is going to do the work, even though you don’t believe it. Just be open-minded, don’t be scared or ashamed and give it a chance.

Demon or spirit possessions are as real as this world is. If the possession occurs, there are ways to deal with it. There are people and methods that can help. When you think you or someone close to you may be oppressed or possessed, the important thing is not to lose hope.
Don’t play with things you have no knowledge of. Don’t try to be smart. Don’t pretend nothing can harm you.
