So you can get an edge…
I was helping a client strengthen their intuition by using a pendulum the other day, and I thought I’d share some of those tips with you too.
His motivation was to get stronger and faster at connecting with his guides so he can get an edge in his business. We did all this great energy work waking up the 3rd eye and crown chakras, decalcifying and stimulating the pineal gland, all of which turns up the volume on intuition, but now we need to learn how to use it.
We need to get familiar with how it feels, in body and mind, when we are connected to our guides. When they are answering, rather than our own inner self. So, he’s going to test and practice and test and practice until he knows exactly what it feels like when his guides are present and answering him.
But what are they saying?
True, we very definitely also need to understand what they are saying. That’s where the pendulum comes in. The pendulum leaves little ambiguity. If you ask good questions, it will give you good answers. More on that later.
For our purposes of testing our intuition, the pendulum is the best tool for this as they’re quick, they give mostly straight yes/no answers, and you can carry them everywhere, so it makes practicing convenient.
If you want to strengthen your intuition by using a pendulum, try this…
First, find a pendulum you can carry with you everywhere – I recommend copper if you can find it, as it’s a crazy good conductor which is important for beginners. But honestly, if you practice enough, most pendants on a chain will do.
Second, get a small notebook as you’ll need it to record questions, answers and results.
That’s it. The rest is practice.
Practice with testable questions – questions you will find the answers to soon ish. E.g. Will blah blah win the Oscar for Best Picture? Will it rain in Tokyo on Wednesday? You get the idea.
Tips for good questions to practice on:
- Stay away from questions that are too emotive. You don’t want to care about the answers too much at this stage. It can get in the way of a pure read and we’re practicing something else right now.
- Questions that start with ‘will…?’ are better than questions that start with ‘can…?’. E.g. I can clean the gutters today, but will I?
- Only one question at a time please – this might seem obvious, but we often add ‘or’ to questions which can be confusing. “Will it rain in Tokyo or will it be sunny on Wednesday?” is not as clear as “Will it rain in Tokyo on Wednesday?”
The notebook is to record your results. You can go back and literally see the patterns of when your pendulum worked and what that felt like. Then, you can search for/recognise those signals of being engaged with your guides when you are asking questions in the future. Make sense?
In your notebook I’d suggest taking note of these 4 things at least
- The question
- The answer
- How it felt when you were asking and answering? – this is the way you learn. Take note if your hands were tingling, or if it felt like your head lifted off, maybe your stomach churned, you got goose-pimples, your vision blurred, hot flush, etc, etc. note it down!
- Was it correct? – Did it actually rain in Tokyo on Wednesday?
If you are new to pendulums, this might help:
BEFORE YOU USE YOUR PENDULUM
In a draft free place
- Gather your notebook, pen, talismans*, pendulum and sit comfortably.
- Centre yourself by taking a few deep breaths.
- If you haven’t already, write down your questions.
- Close your eyes for a few more breaths then imagine there’s an eye/doorway/portal right between your eyebrows. Let your mind zoom in on that spot, closer and closer until you pass though it – this takes as long as it takes.
- When you’re through, invite your guides to step forward – I say ‘I ask my guides to come forward, allowing me to be a clear and open channel for divine wisdom and I am ready to receive any messages from Spirit’
- Take note of any body/mind sensations you have
- Pick up your pendulum in your right hand – left is for receiving, right for sending energy – your guides will communicate through you, then out through your pendulum.
- Ask ‘show me a yes’ – wait for the indication
- Ask ‘show me a no’ – wait for the indication
- Now you can ask your questions
*talismans are anything you feel brings you power and connection to Spirit. I usually have incense, a candle, a crystal, sacred jewellery, things like that. It matters that you are connected to it energetically, not what it is.
After your questions have been asked and answered, thank your guides for their wisdom and put away your pendulum.
After 20-30 tests, you can look at your notes, look at those right answers, and start to figure out how your body/mind tells you when you are connected to your guides. So in the future, when you feel those signals, you can trust those answers.
Then you’ll be able to use your intuition to help guide you – I stressed help because this is magic not science; I trust my intuition, it’s a gift, but I also use my brain, right?
I truly feel gifted with my intuition, but it’s not because I’m special.
I feel that privilege because I get to do this every day, therefor my intuition is pretty sharp these days, lol. That’s the gift. The more you practice, the better you’ll get.
Your latent gift of intuition will strengthen and sharpen and you will have that edge too.
Can’t wait to hear how this exercise works for you.
Big Juicy Blessings,
