Two killed for ‘practicing’ sorcery

Two persons were allegedly murdered at Nathma village of Rayagada district in Odisha by a group of superstitious villagers who alleged them to be sorcery practitioners on August 19 night.

Bodies of these two persons had not been traced till Thursday afternoon. The two missing persons of this village under Rayagada police station were tribals named Apadu Melaka and a woman named Lataka Pidika.

As per the allegation made by Shukri, the teenaged daughter of Apudu, a mob of villagers had forcefully entered their house at late night and assaulted her father. Apudu was tied up by a rope and dragged out into the darkness.

According to police sources, no one from the village had filed any complaint regarding the incident but police on its own had started investigation.
