Demons of Magick: Three Practical Rituals for Working with The 72 Demons

Review the stats

I believe it’s important to put everything in its proper perspective. That’s including the current coronavirus. I think most people know, we live in a world of bacteria. Our bodies are designed to fight this bacteria, and we become stronger as a consequence. Younger people before they build their immune systems, the sick, and the elderly, are more unlikely to fight off the bacteria naturally. We know that every year the common cold and pneumonia ( a common illness), returns to share a new version of their germs with the population.

Like you already know, you can catch a cold from another person who is infected with the virus. This can happen by direct physical contact with someone who has a cold, or by touching a surface contaminated with their germs — like passing on the chalice in coven rituals, computer keyboards, doorknobs or public washrooms (yuk) — and then touching your nose or mouth. You can also catch it from infected droplets in the air released by a sneeze or a cough. There is no cure, just precautions we all must take – especially to the vulnerable members of society as discussed above. Sounds familiar yet?

Let’s look at the stats:

Annual global deaths from pneumonia*

  • Pneumonia affects approximately 450 million people a year
  • It is a major cause of death among all age groups, resulting in 1.4 million deaths in 2010 (7% of the world’s yearly total)
  • It was the 4th leading cause of death in the world in 2016, resulting in 3.0 million deaths worldwide

*Epidemiology of pneumonia

Putting these numbers in perspective of the current coronavirus, 57,692 people die every week from pneumonia and related illnesses. That’s over 8,220 people each day…right now…dead from the common cold! Do we panic as a society? No – we deal with it and accept it as a part of life.

The truth is, if you do contract the coronavirus, you may have mild symptoms at best. The CDC states, the large majority of people will not even need to visit a doctor, and will not require any form of medical treatment. This should be reassuring to the majority of the population, that even if you do contract the virus you would treat it as you would any other type of cold – with home rest, perhaps some cold and flu medication, and a good ol’ hot toddy!

Hence why I say the reaction by the leaders and decision-makers are based on the need to be seen as doing the right thing. Is being popular more important than being factual?  Why just not report “….a new strain of the coronavirus has hit the streets and the elderly and vulnerable need to take care…”. Instead, leaders are shutting down schools, businesses, airports access, countries etc etc …as if contracting the virus means liquefaction of your insides and implosion!

Anyway, these are just my thoughts, and I will leave you with links to the CDC so you can decide for yourself.

What are your risks? If this is not you…then chill out.

  • Affects older adults >80
  • Those who have underlying health issues

Was the coronavirus outbreak really predicted by a horror novelist in 1981?

This week, a lovely client of ours, Roxanne, shared this very interesting article from a science fiction novelist, who predicted the impact of the coronavirus in 2020. Roxanne says:

I want to show you something really interesting, and freaky related to this virus (you may have already heard about it). So, there is a pretty popular horror author, Dean Koontz, who published a sci-fi fiction book in 1981, that talks about a global virus in 2020, that attacks the respiratory system, and it will spread quickly, and no vaccine, etc. One of my colleagues said that all horror authors do some form of this predicting catastrophes in their books. And, as a horror book lover, I know that. However, guess what he calls this virus? Wuhan400 because (in the book), it was a biological weapon, created at a lab in Wuhan. I think that is way more than a coincidence. It was 1981, why not say the virus came 2000 or 2010? He said 2020. And even more, why choose Wuhan, out of all of the cities on this planet. Like Wuhan? Freaky!

Dean Koontz fans across the world are apparently dusting off and cracking open their 39-year-old novels titled: The Eyes of Darkness by American Novelist Dean Koontz.

According to Reuters, the coronavirus disease discovered in Wuhan, China in 2019 drew parallels to the novel’s ‘Wuhan-400’ bioweapon. However, there were some identifiable differences between the real disease and the fiction bioweapon. Koontz’s novel predicts the arrival of a fatal virus in 2020.
